LS/VTEC knock sensor functional?

Here’s one for the gurus.

OK, I’ve read all the info I could find on here about running a PR3/PW0 ECU for an OBD0 LS/VTEC set up. I know all about relocating the knock sensor to the alternator bracket and how to wire it. I know this gets rid of code 23.:read: Now, my question is this - Will it actualy be FUNCTIONAL in a new location on a block that was not desingned to have a knock sensor? Will it actualy dedect detonation and retard timing as needed?

Or, will the ECU just detect the knock sensor and operate like “it’s all good” when you’re pinging like a bitch?

If it’s done correctly, then it should work fine. Don’t let having a working knock sensor divert you from getting a good tune though. A good tune is the ONLY way to truly protect you from detonation. Without a good tune, detonation could be so severe that by the time the knock sensor hears the knock, and sends a signal to the ecu, it may be too late.

the knock sensor is like the oil pressure light. if it’s working, it’s too late. lol.

x2. both of those sensors are in the garbage on my engine.
