same header, stock intake manifold
The only difference’s here is the head’s, ‘’ no.1’’ is the set up I have now, one of my friend’s wants to trade me his head for mine and from what I’ve heard is that the b-16 head flows better.The only sacrifice is my ‘‘brand new’’ skunk 2 mani, but correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure those ctr cam’s will produce more of a gain than the manifold, correct??
Anyhow…
I don’t personally have experience with the difference’s between the two so if any one could share some info regarding this it would be greatly appreciated.
Let me kinda re-phrase my question, when doing ls-Vtec, which head in completely stock form produces more power on a stock bottom end, the b-16 or gsr head?
Which add on will you get the most gain out of, a pro series manifold or ctr cam’s?

The GSR head will produce a higher compression value and should yield more power. Cumbustion Chamber Volumes: PR3/B16, B17 & P73/ITR = 42.7 cc, P72/GSR = 41.6 cc

honestly if the head is already installed and your running it i wouldn’t bother even if you did gain 2-3hp or whatever the amount is. just get some cams if that’s what you want. with your higher compression and s2 intake manifold it will be a nice upgrade.
since you just told me to choose 1 or 2, based upon what you said… 2 will get you down the track faster. but thats because of the cams.
all things equal, gsr head should yield slightly better results, but does not always translate into a faster car. CTR cams over gs-r cams however, will most definitely always yield a faster car. given same engine size and no drastic difference in complementing mods. intake manifold most likely wont make a huge difference under 7500 rpm
If the head is already installed on your car… i’d say just find a set of CTR cams for $200-250 used and throw them in. better yet, BC3+ or skun2 stage1 for perhaps $50 more
Honestly I was just trying to keep the story as short as I could. The deal is, I am swapping block’s and the one that is on my car is the b18a1 and i’m swapping to a b18b with way less mile’s. The guy I sold the a1 block too asked if he could just give me his b16 head with ctr’s intrade for my gsr head so that he don’t have too do a head gasket and so on.
i would keep the gsr head. harder to find, cost more, and higher compression.
