Ls/vtec what next?

Hea well I got my b16a 2000si heads with 1gen intake manifold and apexi vafc, Its at the shop and its getting put on a 95 ls b18b engine. I have alot more money left over then I expected and wat to be as fast as possible.

I am tring to find the best intake and exhaust catback system for the money(i dont see spending 550 bucks for a apexi when its only 2hp more then a airmass warlock system). which exhaust (catback systems) and cold air intake would u guys recommend.

also I want to know which plugs, wires and an ignation system r best for the money , I hate spending extra on something and it coming out to be the same or just alittle better then the cheaper one , but If I know it will help more then the cheaper one then I have no problems buying it.

last thing is I need to upgrade my clutch I have heard anywhere from df centerforce, to act 6 puck and clutch masters stae III. I want a pretty easy to get along with clutch that not so hard to drive in traffic this is a daily driver.

thanks would love to hear u guys opponion.
thanks

Honestly Spark plugs and ignition isn’t going to help much in hp. Depending on how much money you have left, you might want to look into cams, cam springs, and titanium retainers. (if you already have header and exhaust) If I had ur set up with extra money, i’d get an aem cai, DC ss 4-2-1 headers, Tanabe RM exhaust or DC exhaust, then i’d get crower cams with dual springs and titanium retainers. and skunk2 or JG intake manifold.

What kinda pistons u got?

or maybe just leave the ls/vtec and get the head port and polished.

As for clutch, i’d go with exedy or act. (I don’t know much about clutches)

If all you’re doing is putting a vtec head on a non-vtec block I can tell you where you’re going to wish you’d spent more money. You need to upgrade the bottom end. At the least shotpeen the connecting rods and get stronger rod bolts. And also get everything balanced. You would also benefit from raising the compression of the engine by swapping out the pistons for type r or gsr pistons. Figure out what compression you want to have then punch the numbers to find out what pistons will do that.

I see you’re from the southeast too. I’ve been to the car shops that try to convince you to do a ls/vtec by telling you how easy and cheap they can do it. Just be careful man because they only care about making a buck. Once you drive your car off their lot it’s not their problem anymore.

I totally agree with Whitey on this one. Be sure that bottom end can handle high rpm use. You’ll also have to have your ecu chipped to raise the redline and change the fuel curve for vtec. If you already have done all this then dump some of that money into some suspension mods.

i also agree, if you do it right the first time, than you wont be doing it a second time. as having just finished a fully built ls/vtec, i can say that it would have been easier to swap in an entire motor/tranny/ecu from a gsr and probably cheaper. i spent about 3500 on everything, and that’ s with wholesale on everything. just do your homework, and make sure you do it right the first time.
