Ok gus, i hve a 90 LS and im thining about doing LS/Vtec swap. A kid i know has a complete “Head” fro a 99 SI and inclues everything for the swap… He wants $600 for it and like $1200+ to install it… is this a good deal… what kind of HP will i be puhing withthe swap… ? help guys…
1,200 can get with a complete b16 motor.
$600 for a head is pretty expensive.
you can pick up a b16a head for about $300-$500.
but i think you need to do some more research on this. What all does the $1200 include? $1200 just to swap heads and add an oil line?? Thats a huge rip off. Hell, Dan does engine swaps for g2 guys for less than half that.
The main thing you are missing is that the ls/vtec swap is not as simple as putting the head on and driving off. If you want it to be reliable, and to be able to rev high enough to take advantage of vtec, you’ll need to completely tear down and rebuild the bottom end. Which, by itself is gonna run you about $1200.
do a search and do some reading on the ls/vtec. There is a lot of prep work that should be done before that head goes on.
