alright so i have a S1 B16 trans and i thought it had LSD in it till today when i pulled off both axles and seen the bar through the middle…but…whenever i would do a burn out i would leave 2 clean black marks…even when i droped the clutch in first to take off 2 marks…any idea?
On most differentials the bar in the middle is your pinion shaft, the spider gears sit on either end, spiders walk around the carrier, and side gears connect to the axles. I have yet to see a honda lsd, I’ve heard bar=non-lsd too.
The only cable transmissions that had optional LSD are the JDM Y1 and the JDM YS1.
No USDM cable transmissions had LSD.
Its a jdm b16a with a jdm s1 trans
Then yours won’t have factory LSD.

When I worked at a JDM parts importer many moons ago a saw numerous J1’s with LSD. Take it they were all CRX swaps and I could tell as my boss would bring the swaps over with the mounts attached.
Interesting. My J1 has gear ratios of a Y1, but with a 4.4fd of a J1 rather than the Y1s 4.266.
Either the site I read is wrong, or there are more oem variations possible than it listed.
But regarding the OP… if you can’t see straight through the diff, its non-lsd.
What about for the 92-93 GSR’s…?
"What about for the 92-93 GSR’s…? "
Did not come with LSD (OEM)
unless its the jdm cable YS1 that has jdm itr internals and lsd.

And since there was never a JDM GS-R… they did not have LSD.
I’ve heard so many db2 owners say it was an available option from the factory. Guess the previous owner bought a jdm tranny or aftermarket lsd cuz I got it. Now i feel lucky, considering I paid 600$ for a db2 with 2 motors and a butt load of extras.
There was no JDM Gsr. However, the Japan only XSI (b16 equipped DA in Japan only) did have an option from Honda for a YS1 short gear with an LSD. The US and Canadian GSR did not have but one option.
Yup.
Well damn, guess I hit the jackpot…
