lsvtec conversion ,to do or not to do?

the ls vtec conversion is in my opinion is a great mod for your car some say the upstroke and everything will tear it up and make it unreliable but only if u build it halfass with minor fabrication u can make the lsvtec be a dream mod for your car.but it will lighten your pocket.

I didnt know where to put this cause…uh…yeah. But its in here. have fun guys.

hm…why don’t you go try it out and see?

Proper sentence structure is your friend.

Buy a complete VTEC engine. Enough said.

ls/vtec is the worst idea ever whoever even considers this is a complete loser.

my last 35k miles allbut trouble free is just random luck and has nothing to do with anything.

Well, I say this. If its properly built, and I’m talking not take the head drop it and “forget it”, i’m talking about a well balanced crank good high tolerance rod and crank bearings throw in some itr pistons get the block and head resurfaced all new bolts top and bottom. I see why not to go ls/vtec. But in my opinion. I think its just a waste of money and time for the power you’re going to get. Look up how much horses you could get out of a couple of non vtec cams and compared to vtec cams. The only big differnce I see is the prices. I think vtec is good, but extremely over rated. But that is just my humble opinion… No hard feelings to you vtec fans.

if done right, you will be faster than shit. if buit smat they last for a long time. use OEM parts

do it but do it right…you wont regret it. take it from a fellow frankenstein owner. check out my site. Im making 174whp right now and when i get my cams…200whp here i come!

you know what… i say add a jet engine and paint your car yellow. then your car will be fast. don’t forget to add plenty of ralliart and trd stickers for that JDM affect.

JK .ls vtec can be fast. just don’t rev it out past 8200 as a daily occurence. use the righ tparts… arp rod bolts and OEM bearings and vtec oil pump.

i reved my stock ls to 7600??? an ls with an aftermarket valvetrain and cams could rev to 9000. you just are beating the crap out of your engnie, and not makin any more power than shifting however, if you got money on the line and almost to the end of the track shifting might not be a good idea unless you know for a fact you can shift perfect. the valvetrain is the weakspot remember. peace

180 to the wheels fully built stock cams daily driven enough said.
UNDER THE HOOD: LS-VTEC Fully built,Polished Integra B-18A block, Eagle rods, JE 11.9:1 81.5mm pistons, Integra Type-R oil pump, STR block guard, PYR Racing full race ported and polished head, Supertec high compression nitride coated valves, Supertec dual valve springs, Supertec titanium retainers, Civic Type-R polished intake manifold, AEM cold air intake,AEM adjustable cam sprockets, DC Sports stainless steel header, PYR Racing alternator crank pully, FTR Vtec oil pressure line kit, all factory genuine honda bearings and gaskets, Crane HI-6 ignition with coil, Magnacore 8.5mm wires, Hyper Ground System, Mugen valve cover, Mugen oil cap, Greddy high pressure radiator cap, Optima gel cell battery, PYR Racing custom ecu 9800RPM rev limit. n/a < 200whp = $ =
boost > 200whp = $ =

:stuck_out_tongue:

Right now i have a b16 in my integra but in a week or so i’m picking up my fully BUILT LS shortblock. (keyword: Built)

A LSVTEC is a fun motor too have if you have the right knowledge of what your going to do.
So if your considering a lsvtec in your car, build it right the first time

i wouldnt rev a built LS head (dual valve springs TI retainers, etc) past 8200 rpm… the reason is the rocker design… anyway.

the key to building a LS or LS vtec or any motor is balancing.

i’ve got about 6000 trouble free miles on my lsvtec, i raced it all season at the track… and daily drive it…

kNOwLedGe420 is of the opinion that LSVTEC’s suck… but u know… who cares what his opinion is.
you’ll find alot of “live and well” LSVTEC’s running out there…

i just built a sweet LSVTEC for my buddy last week, that thing’s gonna rock!.. building another one here soon also.

kNOwLedGe420, why dont you go spread your opinions somewhere else, go do some research and build your own LSVTEC and beat the crap out of it and see what it can do… dont take someone elses opinion and use it as your own.

for the winter i have decided to tear her down and sleeve it with the Darton MODS Integrated Deck Sleeves. Other plans are .25 oversize CTR’s,Skunk2 Stage2 (maybe 3) cams,Skunk2 IM,ITR TB,AN-R Header,RS*R Exmag GT II exhaust,Skunk2 Cam Gears, and more Dynotuning. I will be over 200whp daily driven. I am shooting for 215-225whp and on slicks will be able to run low 13’s high 12’s(possibly mid 12’s with practice). I found a 94 gsr making 215whp running 12.90’s on slicks. FUll interior etc etc. THere is some very potent LS/VTEC setups on this board and all around. Unfortunetly in my area there is only one other ls/vtec and he doesnt know much about the motor. (kinda a friend of a friend got me this motor) so i tried to explain some shit to hiim but he dont listen.

tegracer93,

heh sounds like half the guys in my town… they wanna go fast… they ask me and my buddy… but they never listen or follow through. had one of them call me up the other day asking about an AEM fuel rail and whether it’d work on his teg… he’s still running stock exhaust manifold… i told him to use his money for a header and cams before he gets a fuel rail… he still got the rail LOL

sounds like you got the right idea  that AN-R header looks pretty nice… i’m going with the 10-94 header myself
