I my brother told me I should try putting some vasiline on the tail light gaskets before I install them. Has anybody done that or something similar, or should I just put them on without it?
I just cleared out the pink with that super clean stuff, also got a buch of little pieces of debri out of there and they look real good. I was hoping to get some advice before I put them back no. Thanks.
I don’t see what it would do, but I don’t think it would harm anything either. If you can get another set of gaskets (junkyard), I would double up the gasket. That’s what I did on both my DB1 and DA9. I got an extra set of tailights each time I did it in case something didn’t work. Once I was happy with how they turned out, I jacked the extra set of gaskets and doubled them up on the car.
really dont see thew purpose in putting lube but hey it might work for you. id say put silicone on them or Cristal clear caulk if you are worried about having leaks
Thanks. If I double them up with the old ones then they’ll might leak. I’m hoping the brand new ones won’t leak. When I was washing my tail lights I filled them with water and held them upside down to see if they might have a leak and they did not, so the gasket should do the trick.
I thought maybe vaseline might make removing the tail lights and the gaskets easier next time. Caulk would it would make it alot more of a pain, wouldn’t it? I’m just gonna throw them on without any lube. Thanks again people.
If you have new ones, you’ll be fine. I thought you were reusing the old ones. I was being cheap so I doubled up. No problems so far.
I guess you are looking to prevent them from sticking when you go to remove them? Sounds like it might help, but it would need to be a foam safe lubricant or something.
