m3 vs prius gas milage

I dont know if this is a repost or not

I’m clueless as to how the prius could have been less efficient. Maybe at WOT the toyota’s engine runs super rich…but its not like it has a vvti profile or anything performance oriented. Maybe squealing your all season tires wastes more energy then running briskly on summer tires.

Its not that its less efficient. Its just pointing out it doesnt matter what you drive if your driving habits are bad your not going to get good gas milage.

think of it as a weaker engine strained to its limit will burn more gas than a ridiculously strong engine taking a stroll in the park. I had a feeling the bimmer would burn less gas.

not to mention driving it at its limit would prevent it from using regenerative braking and engine shutoff

same goes with the E46 vs. my integra.

If the top gear track is like a power cycle, with prescribed acceleration and brake points for both cars, the bmw did it more efficiently than the prius according to the mpg results. I mean isnt it true that a civic driven around town will generally get better gas mileage than a viper driven around town, given the same operating parameters?
Does anyone know if the regen brakes work best for one habit of driving?
