magic oil????

theres no oil on the dip stick…so i put a quart in, and a few days later checked it again and still no oil on it so i put another quart in. and still nothing on the dip stick. i have 93 GS with 131,000 miles on it. there is no oil leaking any where and none is being burned. does any body know where its going??? thanks in advanced for any help

I know where it is going… You are burning it. It doenst look that way at idle, but when you get up in the rpm’s I will bet that you are blowing black smoke. My teg is doing the same thing right now. I will be getting some new rings in there soon to fix it though…

Later,
BR

ive had my friends behind me when i step on it and they say that there is no smoke or anything. but ill look into that some more, thanks for the help

did u add oil untill u saw oil on the dipstick?
or did u just add one quart at a time?
i think that it takes somewhere between 2.5 to 3 quarts before u see oil on the dipstick
i might be wrong

B R, yeah you were right i am burning it.i races a GTI and and beat him then i looking in my mirros and the was a nice trail of black smoke behind me. does any body know if theres anything else i should replace when the rings are getting done? and whats a good set of rings to buy? thanks for all the help

Do a complete rebuild since you already have the block stripped to get to the rings.

ummm black smoke= gas or running rich
blue smoke= burning oil
white smoke= water or blow head gasket

ok, so the smoke that was left behind the car was black…so i am running rich. thats probably from the nitrous. no real big deal there. but when the car is at idle there is alot of white smoke when the car is warm, does that mean i have a bad head gasget? or does that just happen? and SweetChin if i am running rich, that doesnt explain where my oil is going. there is nothing on the dip stick at all. i can add 2 quarts and there will be something on the dip stick, but when i check it 3 days later theres nothing on it again. so i have to be burning it some where right??? either that or something else is messed up / broke

Uhhhh…next time please inform us of your mods. Having NOS changes everything. You mind doing the following:

  • Make sure engine oil is at normal level
  • Drive around for a bit (maybe 10-20min.) and don’t redline! In fact, stay below 3000RPM.
  • Let the car sit overnight. And preferrably with some kind of clean carpet or clean metal drain pan.
  • Check next morning to see if you’re leaking.

If this is the case, then I suggest:

  • Clean your engine with degreaser.
  • Make sure to clean the head gasket, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, etc.
  • Check the gaskets, oil pressure switch, etc. next morning for leaks.

If there are no leaks, then you’ve got to be burning it. I suggest doing a compression test and leakdown test to see if the piston rings are the culprit.

BTW, how much shot of N2O are you running?

Good luck,

Oz

thanks for the info…but its not leaking any where and im running a 55 shot for now

Someone posted an article link concerning a Nissan owner spraying a 95-shot nitrous on his fairly new Altima. Unfortunately for the owner, he had to get a new engine coz’ he didn’t know that everytime he was spraying, he would burn some oil. Therefore, after 1200miles after an oil change, he was running with no oil in the engine.

That’s why I asked how much shot you’re running.
