Well my ultimate concern is about the durability, like how long/strong/safe can those 2 little male & female bolts holds up… i mean the amount of force applied to them is enormous when the sway bar kicks in action…
and when it kicks in action, it means that you are in taking a corner… well, you would be so dead if those bolts snaps while you are taking a sharp corner… you can say bye bye to your teg, or say bye bye to your life man…

have u seen what the stock mounting points for the sway bar look like? im sure as long as u don;t bigger then a 19mm ST u should be fine with Ben’sn IMO beefier upgrade.
Hey Ben. How much would you charge to throw a kit together? I’m curious because I like the sound of this upgrade but want to know how expensive this would be. Thanks

I am planning to get a 22mm sway bar at least… or maybe the 24mm prelude sway bar (some humor floating around this forum that its a working or perfect swap).
Ben, you think you can use some bigger, huge bolts instead? hehe

u meant “Rumor” right? oh and i reread that 24mm sway bar thread he’s swapping the FRONT not the rear… if u could use a stock sway that was 24mm i’m sure Marc (DB2-r81) would’ve done it already… u know he’s that crazy road racing guy from America Jr.
wow, I didnt think people would want me to sell a bunch of these. Really, this can be done yourself easily. If your swaybar has flat ends with holes you dont need any bushings from me. You can just get whatever heim joints you want (any bolt size you want too) and put them on. Like schu said they come in tons of different materials, prices and sizes ($3 to about $50 each).
The joints I got were just the cheapest ones the local bearing company had. They handle up to a 5klb load and I have a feeling that the sway doesnt transfer that much weight. Also the 3/8" grade 8 bolts arent going anywhere. they are bigger than the stock bolts anyway. But if it makes you nervous you can get some 1/2" heims.
I dont know how much a kit would be. It depends on what heims you guys want.
Ok heres the deal with the kits. They will be $55 shipped. i know thats expensive but I have to cover costs (thats really all i am covering). The heims turned out to be really expensive because they have to be metric. See, the DA control arms are tapped for a 10x1.25mm bolt and for that i would need to use a 10mm heim joint. To get something to connect to that I would have to use another 10mm heim joint and the right bolt for that heim is a 10mm. sigh For some reason metric stuff is expensive (bolts too), I dont get it but thats how it goes.
The kits will come with 4 heims (2 male, 2 female). They are zinc plated steel with stainless balls riding on bronze bushings. It will also come with 2 10mm bolts and nuts, 6 (maybe 8) washers, and the alum bushings for the swaybar.
the shitty thing is that I cant afford the heims and hardware so i would need 4 people to buy up front so I can pay for stuff for 5 kits. More is always better so let me know. if I dont get 4 poeple then I wont have these kits. This also ensures that I dont get stuck with $200 worth of metric heims and bolts.
If you guys want to get your own heims I can sell you the bushings for very cheap. You could get away with using 7/16 heims but they werent much cheaper than the metric ones and didnt have near the pivot angle of the metric ones (18deg for the 7/16 and 26deg for the metric ones). They would also be a little sloppier on the bolts but not enough to hurt anything.
I got to use the cheap 3/8 heims on my car because I used a 3/8 bolt to connect the sway to the control arm.
Ben, I am in for a set. What about for the front? I would find a local bearing place and put it together myself but I just don’t have the time with 2 jobs and school right now.
Originally posted by codenamezero btw, does the kit only works on OEM sway or any aftermarket sway?
It will work any sway that has a 3/4" hole for the bushing to fit in too. if an aftermarket sway has a different sized hole you can let me know and I will make different bushings for you.
