manual ecu with a automatic trans to start the car?

hi everyone, i just picked a a DA yeasterday and it was missing an ECU. i was wondering if i can “start” the car with a manual ECU with the automatic trans because i have a few manual trans ecu on the side? i won’t be driving the car just starting the car just to see if the engine runs.

It should start and run just fine. It might just be throwing a couple of codes. Also, the codes may depend on what year the Integra is. I was driving a manual transmission Integra with an automatic ECU in the past and it was fine. I could be wrong because I’m assuming it would work the other way around. Hopefully, someone else can confirm.

I used a auto ecu in a manual before but I had to add a jumper wire in the ecu so it wouldn’t throw a code. I’m pretty sure it was the part that knew what gear it was in. Im not totally sure.

I was going to create a thread but it runs along side this post. I currently have an automatic that i’m ls/v swapping with a obd1 harness.

I’ll need to get the harness adapter from obd0-obd1. Problem is, most companies make the harnesses for MANUAL ONLY. I plan on switching to manual eventually, but finds will not allow it right now.

So I’m in your same boat, except I’m curious to know if I can DRIVE my DA with a MANUAL jumper/adapter harness.

I would figure the ECU would tell the transmission when to shift, but it could be done mechanically with pressure switches and whatnot.

Bumping for interest!
