Manual Launch

I would imagine someone has asked before, but after looking for a half hour I can’t find it, so I’ll be a newbie and ask:

1.What are the different ways to launch a manual and how do you do them step by step (yes, i do know how to drive my car, I just don’t know how I should race it)?

  1. Also, I’m sure all these ways include reving it up to a certain amount of revs, so if at all possible, tell me how many revs for a stock '91 5 Speed Integra RS.

Merci!

Is this a real question? :run:

i don’t know how to launch either… never raced, so i never needed to know.

I’m not asking how to drive a stick, I’m not that retarded. I’m asking for good ways to get a fast launch.

ok, it just takes some practice and learning your car. try holding at about 2500 RPM then dump the clutch and gun it, if you spin to much, lower the RPMs a tad and try again. If you bog down, raise the RPMs a tad until you get a good launch.

If you continue to have traction issues (like me :bang: ) try dumping it, then letting off the gas alittle and then flooring it again so you hook. I doubt you’ll have this problem with a stock teg though.

It just takes alittle practice of getting to know your car, and your clutch. one thing I miss about my teg was the launch. that fucker would jump out in front of WRX’s like nothing. but having an aftermarket clutch and 17’s helped too.

PRACTICE!

i find that 3500-4000rpm and feathering the clutch instead of side stepping or dumping it gave me the best 60’s.

you know what, your right, im an idiot…I would take mine to 4400 and dump it. it would grip and go like a mofo…

I was thinking of my jetta. If I go over 2500… :burnout: and forget dumping it. hopfully a LSD and 19’s will fix that though.

…and the definition of feathering would be…?
(Another idiot question)

slowly letting/slipping the clutch out. you control how much power gets to the wheels.

as far as the gas, i guess i feather both the clutch and gas at the same time? since it only takes like 70-80% throttle to get to 3-4k, the remaining 20-30% gas is somewhat floored when the tires hook up.

Why are you wasing your money on these big ass wheels that will just slow you down? Don’t waste money on big wheels that hinder performance, just drive better instead,

How bad is this for the clutch?

it wears it down faster. its a trade off that most people don’t mind taking.

Is there any way to use your e-brake to get a good launch?

NO!

Why not?

At the sorry track I run at I have to use my e-brake to keep my car from rolling back at the tree. :gay:

Yes you can use your E-brake. pull up and hold your e-brake let the clutch out a little until you feel the car pulling a little. Hold it there and raise your rpms to what ever you feel will give you a good launch w/o bogging when the third yellow comes on release the clutch and drop the e-brake ride it a little and floor it at the same time. If this don’t help you get your ecu chipped and get launch control

Of all my friends that I race with, who are WAY better racers than me, who regularly get 2,0 and lower 60’ times and .002, .001, etc, R/T. Not a single ONE of them uses their E-brake that I know of. Think about it, why in the world would you use your brakes if you’re not driving an auto?

The only thing I can even think of would be brake boosting.

Thanks everyone.

the wheels im looking at are very light. once I put the new turbo in, im going to have serious traction issues, even with an LSD (no matter how much I feather the gas/clutch) im hoping some 18’s/19’s will help with that.

I would rather keep my stock wheels than anything, but theres no way I would even move with thoughs.
