Hi folks, I have a mostly stock 93 GS-R that I recently replaced the clutch on. After putting everything together and driving it a bit, I noticed that I was leaking trans fluid on the passenger side. I checked the passenger axle, and it does not appear to be leaking from there. I also checked the drain and fill plugs, and those also do not appear to be leaking. I then cleaned off all the fluid, and then started to take small, quick rides around the block to try to pinpoint where the fluid is coming from. Every time I cleaned the fluid and took a quick ride, it almost seems like it is leaking from the passenger side trans mount area. It was consistently in the same spot after 3 or 4 quick drives around the block, leaking down the passenger side of the trans. It also only seems to leak when i drive, as when I first noticed the problem and cleaned off the fluid, it did not leak overnight. Only when driven. I would appreciate any suggestions, as it is driving me crazy… I’ve tried to search g2ic, but anything I found doesn’t seem to be leaking from where it seems to be leaking on my car.
Can you provide a pic of precisely where you’re seeing the fluid?
The arrow on the first pic shows the highest point i see trans oil leaking. You can see it about to drip. The arrow on the second is where is consistently runs down the trans. I opened the fill plug to check if it is definitely trans fluid, and I am certainly low. All other fluids are at normal levels.
how did you reattach the trans to the mount? you may have cracked the case.
I left the mount on the trans, and just disconnected it from the car. I don’t think I took the mount off the trans. I am going to change the axle seals and crush gasket again to eliminate that possibility. And take a closer look with the car on jack stands this weekend. Any other thoughts?
