do any of the sedans have map lights? i remember my da gs having map lights which were pretty convenient, and well the dang dome light doesn’t light all that well so its kinda irratating.
anybody ever put da map lights on their sedans? i’m assuming it would be fairly simple to wire it into a the fuse box, and all. prolly use a spare location that gets power at all times, and run a fuse with it. i’d just need to get the map lights… wires n stuff, the proper fuse (clueless at the moment), hook it up in my headliner, wire it up and poof. not fully detailed but yea. are the maplights in a da hooked up into the headliner, or is the are a cutout for it? i’m not too interested in ripping out the headliner fully cuz i hate breaking those tabs on the pillars n stuff.
The stock dome light is weak, I agree. About 6 years ago I wanted to put in the maplights in my '90 RS integra coupe, but I couldn’t find a used unit in the local junk yards, so here’s what I did:
I found a (new) generic dome light at a local surplus store (the type that probably would be used in some type of Japanese car like a Toyota, etc.). I cut a hole in the headliner in the position where the maplights would be, and wired the “new” dome light directly into the existing dome light. (I ran the wires under the headliner). It took a little bit of studying the interior wiring schematic to figure out how to do this, but it wasn’t too hard. Worked slick as hell. The new dome light takes power from the old dome light, and the two operate mostly independently.
I guess my point is that if you want to install the maplights, you should consider grabbing power off the existing domelight instead of trying to run wires down the pillar to the fuse box.
sweet, thx a lot. didn’t know led dome lights existed. ima try to find cheaper led ones… $35 is a bit steep for a dome light bulb replacement. i have an LED flashlight that has like 12 leds and only cost me like $5. yea not the same, but well, there’s gotta be cheaper hopefully.
