Here are the pics of my small spline ACT clutch.
what are you looking to get out of it?
Received your email. Unfortunately some things came up and have to drop some money for school so won’t be able to purchase atm. keep up the good work on the build man.
No problem man, I know how that goes. Thanks for letting me know.
I have been waiting for my friend to come help me out and crack open this YS1 so I can get it installed already, that is if its in good condition. I think I may just go out there in a bit and see what I can do on my own, anxious to get this car running again.
It has been a while since I last posted anything so here is a bit of an update. The YS1 i bought at the junk yard ended up being junk. I got it installed in my car just in time to start a new job I got. It ran fine for a couple weeks and then started having problems. I said enough was enough and I took it out of the car and then took both my small spline S1 and big spline YS1 to Synchrotech in San Dimas. They cracked them both opened and showed me how bad they were. So with that I used my first paycheck and bought a remanufactured YS1 from them. Since I drove down there and needed it right away they gave me a free upgrade to their pro series carbon synchros and free shipping. A couple days later I got this;
Since I put that in the car it has been running great, it shifts so smooth and I love it. I had to do my brakes the other day so I put in some Wagner ceramic pads, couldnt beat the price of less than $40 for front and rear. I plan to get new rotors some time in the future. Also I need to get camber kits for front and rear, I had a tire pop on the way home from work one night and had to buy the cheapest front tires I could find. I hope to get the Skunk2 camber kits when I get some money.
I still have my vacuum leak so my idle bounces all over. I haven’t had time to look at it but I really want to fix it. Here is a short video of the problem;
Also I think one of my fuel injectors is bad. If I drive normal the car starts to shake and you can feel a vibration towards the end of second gear and just after I shift into third gear. If I drive more aggressive I do not experience this and the car feels smooth. I may be looking for a set of injectors if anyone has any leads.
I plan on washing the car tomorrow so if I do I will take some pics of how she looks now.
I’m a bit jealous of that transmission! Mind sharing how much it ran you?
The idle surge is most likely caused by either the fitv, iacv, or a vacuum leak. First thing I would suggest doing is take off the intake (while at operating temp) and try covering the ports that run to the iacv and fitv to see if/which one is pulling vacuum. Neither should be at operating temp. That will help isolate where your problem lies. If neither one has vacuum at operating temp sray some carb cleaner around your vacuum lines to find a vacuum leak.
If you find the cause of your vibration at the end of second and beginning of third please share it. I’m experiencing the EXACT same issue with mine and it’s annoying to say the least.

It ran me a pretty penny, $1080 but it was worth every penny! I was tired of the $200-300 junkyard/CL/FB junk and I wanted something good and reliable. Let me tell you, it shifts so smooth and easy.
I did take my fitv off and make sure it was clean and the wax ring was screwed in all the way and not loose. I havent checked the iacv yet but I do know I have a vacuum line not connected to anything. The dashpot is connects to the stock airbox but the air boost valve does not. My airbox only has 1 connector and the manual says it should have two like in this diagram;
So its not just me with that vibration? it like shakes the car and my windows rattle. It starts about the middle of second and beginning of third but only when driving normal and shifting around 3k every gear. If I push it harder and shift around 4k+ then it doesnt do it. I am thinking fuel delivery issue and for me that would be fuel injectors because I just put in my new B20 motor, spark plugs, fuel filter, fuel pump, stock air box with new filter and new fuel injector seals. I want to get a new set of injectors and see if it goes away. Maybe my vacuum leak could have something to do with it too?
That’s literally exactly how my vibration is. I personally don’t think it’s a fuel delivery issue. I would lean more towards halfshaft or axles but I guess you can’t rule it out. Feels much more like a drivetrain vibration to me than it does a fuel problem. If you weren’t getting enough fuel, I’d expect the engine would operate better at lower rpms not more smoothly at higher rpms. I’m thinking about either rebuilding the OEM halfshaft using OEM parts or purchasing a yonaka replacement (since I’m using a DC halfshaft)
Hrmm I guess I never thought of that. I did just replace my passenger axle cause I had a little accident I forgot to post about. I bought the cheapest one I could get from pepboys cause it was right after I bought the trans. I put the trans in and put the car all together and then I lowered the car down. Like all of us know, I had to lower it down onto blocks and when I went to drive it off it the craziest thing happened. I dont know how to explain it but the ball joint nut popped off, the car bounced, the ball joint came off the control arm and it ripped my axle in two. Not the best picture but hope you get the idea. If you look closely you can see the cotter pin all bent up and broken in the ball joint, it just ripped right out.
When I had an idle bounce I just replaced the throttle body gasket and it stopped
I might give that a shot, want a thermal one anyway.
Dude I think I may have found your idle problem, hope this helps and take a good look at the pics and you’ll notice what I’m talking about. That vaccum hose is just dingling there or hidden but it’s not attached to anthing so put it where it goes. Very easy fix.

Thanks for the info but that hose actually goes to the charcoal canister and I plugged it in. That air boost valve is supposed to connect to the stock air intake but mine is missing the connector. I am guessing the 90-91 stock air intake has to connections and the 92-93 only has only as the intake manifold from either the 92-93 or B17 does not have a air boost valve. So I either need to get a new air intake that has the 2 connections like I need or get a Y adapter to connect with the dashpot.
Oh, I see what you mean. You can put a T-fitting in between the hoses going in to your intake and or the ones that go to the intake manifold, just follow the oem routing. If I were you I’d double check your helms manual first just to be sure cause I’m not in front of a car right now so I can’t tell for sure plus I don’t want miss inform or give you wrong information. One thing I do know and that is that it ein’t that difficult to do at all. Hope you get it fix man.
Thanks man. Yeah I know what you mean, I just havent had much time to mess with it. I work a weird shift, 3:30-Midnight and an hr drive each way to work. I get home around 1am and cant go to bed till like 3-4am and then I sleep till like noon. Maybe my next day off I will mess with it.
