McFly's DB1 build

the other thing is, Hmotors has a “100% start up warranty” where as craigslist is more of a gamble unless you see it run personally before you get it. I think paying a couple hundred more for a guaranteed running motor is worth it.

Well I was able to pick up my new motor today. Wasnt able to get it until later in the evening so we didnt get a chance to put it in either. Also the engine hoist I borrowed from a friend didnt work either so that didnt help. The hydraulic pump has a leak so it doesnt keep any pressure. We were able to crack the transmission open and all of the gears looked real good so I may have to replace only the synchros. I may pick up a set from Synchrotech here soon once we confirm that is the problem. Trying to convince the wife to let me get carbon synchros since they are only $50 more. Heres a couple pics of the motor. It is real clean and has a knock sensor so you know it’s high comp. They also told me it is a 2000 year motor.

So I was just doing some reading and something caught my eye. I read that the stock transmission that should come in my car would be stamped A1/S1/YS1 but mine is stamped Y1 which is from a CRX/Civic. Is this correct and which is the better one to have? Also I do not believe it has LSD.

Small update.

My buddy came over to help me look at my transmission. We got it taken apart and broken down and my friend said that it was in good condition. All of the gears looked fine and so did the synchros. The synchro rings however where not in good condition. So I ordered some new synchro rings from synchrotech and got the transmission all put back together. Hopefully that has fixed my issue of grinding when shifting into 3rd and 4th. Now with that done we should be able to put the new motor in the car which we will be doing tomorrow. Wish us luck.

Dang!!! Those tools look new. Lol.

Nice pickup on the motor and tranny

Looks like you are off to a good start

LOL, gotta use what you have haha.

Thanks, the motor looks so clean. I will take more pics tomorrow during the install. Oh and I forgot to mention that I was wrong about the tranny. I thought it was stamped Y1 but it is stamped S1. Either one works for me as the car is mainly for my commute to work, 4.5 miles each way.

Thank you. I hope tomorrow goes smoothly. Once it get the car running and start using it to drive to work I want to get some rims and do something about the paint. I also really want one piece headlights but they are so expensive. Oh and I need a stereo too haha. No stereo in the car right now.

nice b20z is huge improvement your going to love it good luck
