Hey everyone, I know there is a few old threads about the meagan headers but they havnt answered my questions about em. Im planning on buying one today or tommorow depending on the response I get from this thread. Does anyone have an actual dyno of the increase from them or know how much you are spose to gain? And I heard there were problems with the gaskets on them leaking has that been fixed or were those of you that have em able to find another gasket or reuse your stock exhaust manifold gasket? :read: Just trying to make sure I get as much info as I can on em before I buy em TY ALL!
I don’t have a dynograph but I had this header on my first teg (91 ls, bolt ons) It was alright, opened up the flow a bit. You can’t expect huge gains from a 150 dollar header, but imo it was worth it. Get the copper gasket from summit. you have to modify the holes slightly, but it works well and if you do it right you won’t get an exhaust leak.
kool thats actually exactly what I needed, just looking for a little something to tide me over while I build my other teg thats gonna be a garage build for the next 2 years or so. thanks!
happy to help

Which gasket are you talking about exactly?
I have a feeling he’s talking about the collector gasket NO?
If not why would u have to modify the (top) gasket, cause it is not same size as megan header runner size?
I am thinking of getting a megan header and heat wrapping it and would like to know which?
save your money. I’ve blown out 2 y-pipe gaskets already for my megan header. The gasket I bought from summit at least lasted for a little over a week. The Megan gasket lasted 3 days! Now I’m gonna try that copper one and see how that works. If this one blows out then I’m selling this header or maybe toss it in the trash. :bang::mad::gunleft:MEGAN
are you sure the mating surfaces are flat?
also did you order the one i posted in the other thread?
well let me know what happens when u put get that copper gasket on there. I havnt bought it yet …had to replace my wheel bearings so ive put off buying it for a little longer.

Yup that gasket fit perfectly and lasted longer than the megan one. I drove it hard friday night and that’s when I noticed it was leaking afterwards. I pulled of the y-pipe and the gasket practically fell apart. I’m wondering if maybe the two surfaces are warped. I will check it out when the copper gasket comes in.
i bought a Megan header myself today, and people around my area are now telling me that a header could hurt my motor because i basically have a stock motor except for the AEM CAI. is this true? do i need to do some internal work in my motor before i can use a header and wont damage anything? i thought it would be fine, i can see my back pressure being less, but i really didnt think that would hurt much. what are you guys running with your headers?
you should be better off with the megan compared to the stock 90-91 header design… that is IF the megan doesnt give you any problems that other member have had.
Hondabond for mid-gasket.
It’s not worth $150 bucks. LoL.
It’s the same as those cheap $50 eBay headers.
For the 90-91 Integra owners
If u plan to get a header for a 90-91 better get something 92+ where u would need to fab up your own pipe or have the shop weld up extension to the cat. You really want the o2 1 wire to be located before the cat at the collector or 6 inches from it.
Get a header where there is option with extra o2 bung made at the collector area tis better reading for the o2 sensor.
If u are just going to put it where the usual stock location where it only read 2 runners this will throw off your power as the o2 is going to read wrong and run a tad rich and you always wonder why u have black soot /carbon from exhaust or on bumper.
I know becoz i have a stupid header on and my CO was high in pretest for smog. Went back to stock where all 4 runner meet the o2 sensor and i pass.
Sorry for the late post. Main problem I found is that the bolts Megan supplies for the Y-pipe are crap. Buy some nuts and bolts at a hardware store that way you can bolt the y-pipe down tight.
:vomit:MEGAN
oki read allthe post and ny buddy is going to sell me a megan header and full exhuast will this be better since its all the same.also i havea tusuto n1 exhuast that isnt very loudits not a cat back guy a bought the car from threw a fart can on i t. will the full exhaust pull harder and be louder?
i put a megan header on my car this past saturday and it has held up so far.lol… i have read horror stories on other sites about megan headers but ya know i have come to realize that any “horror” story about a cheap “knockoff” is usually from that 1 person who had on bad experience and people take it way to far. I think people are just scared because something is cheaper it might not last. Sometimes you have to take a risk with a product and see if it pays off. If it doesnt, admit your wrong, sell it and buy something else.
