megan racing sleeved coilover kit

ok so i order a kit from megan. the spring rates are 325 up front and 300 in the rear. i will get pics asap. and as well as a review of there quality and how they ride combined with the tokico illuminas … it might take a 2 or 3 weeks for me to get the review up due i still need a camber kit so i can do everything all at one time…

How did this go? I am thinking about ordering the same kit but I wanted to see if anyone else has used it. Also, can I trust most Megan parts? The reason I ask is that they seem much lower in price than other brands…thanks for your help and get that review up if you can please txracer!

well im waiting on a camber kit but they should be on here soon. i have a megan header and have no issues with it and am very very pleased witht he quality of it. the sleeved coil overs appear to be also very good in the quality area. there rates are 325 in the front and 300 in the rear.im matching them up tokico illuminas…if you need to get a new set up before i can get these on. i am pretty sure that they will ride nice for what i want… and work very well…i am also waiting on the megan short shifter i ordered last week…and i will soon be ordering there c piller bar for the da, and maybe even 2 of there racing seats…

in the november 2006 issue of import tuner they have the power pages and tested a megan header on a 04 scion tc. this is the result of what the megan header did for the tc…next month when the issues hit the stores you can pick up this copy to see the dyno chart.

horse power gain
1500 to 3500 hp range: 5 to 3
3500 to 5500 hp range: 10 to 8
5500 to redline hp range:3 to 17

torque gain
1500 to 3500 tq range: 7 to 4
3500 to 5500 tq range: 11 to 9
5500 to redline tq range: 15 to 11

i know this is on a scion tc and the header was a 4-1 and the da one is a 4-2-1. it shows me that megan knows what there doing. and there quality so far is on par with most of the bigger name stuff.
i promise the day they are on i will post pics and a review ( well after the test drive) and then when i get an alignment and the ride height i want. i will post a review of how they feel when tearing up some twisty roads here in town

ok well i got my camera to work with my comp so here are 3 pics of the coilovers with the illuminas, if there alittle fuzzy or out of focus sorry this camera has issues with that

also if these are big sorry i dont know how to resize them, so if they are and some one wants to for me… thanks

just wanted to post an update for murasame, my camber kit should be here thursday or friday. and i hope to be able to get this done this weekend or next since i want to get an alignment the same day i swap everything out…

ok well if everything goes the way i want it to this weekend i should have my new suspension on, and i hope to have an alignment monday… and a review when i get off work monday or tuesday…

i have the same coilovers just on stock struts and it sucks because my front struts are bad and my car is bouncy as shit it sucks but i want to get tokico blues so i cant really say if there good or bad i will know when i get new struts

I have the Megan Racing coilovers with Tokico blues. Don’t bother wasting your money, you will blow the shocks within 6 months, depending on how aggressive your driving is. I baby my car so it took a bit longer…

I suggest saving your money and going with ehtier the Tien Basics or a Koni/GC combo or Koni/something else setup.

In the end you will end up spending about $500 for the whole Megan Racing + Tokico setup (plus installation costs if you aren’t planning on doing it yourself). Most shops will get you out the door with the Tien Basic setup INSTALLED for just under $800.

i have blues right now but with tokico matched spirngs. im paring the megan coil overs with tokico illuminasand im not going to be slammed. all in all im adjusting to a ride height of 1 3\4in drop…

i must say tho that blues are decent if used with a mild 1 to 1 1\2in drop. anything lower and you need to step up to a better shock

Can’t wait for your reviews! I’m getting the same setup as well, already has my Illuminas and now waiting for the Megan coilovers to be delivered. Never installed coilovers before and was wondering if I should wait to get the Revone adjustable arms and install everything at once or can I install that afterwards?

id just wait and do it at one time… see i screwed up and got the ingalls extreme camber kit. but im only going to lowered a total of maybe 2 inchs but more like 1 3\4in. so i might have to get new camber kits… my review is taken longer due to my weekend long repaire of my teg. 2 broken header studs, and a broke in half bolt that holds the shift stabilizer bar to the transmission.but this weekend should be nice so im prolly gonna do the swap … atlest i hope

ok update the suspension is going on the teggy today. the only review i can give is how the feel driving to the alginment shop. my front camber kits are the ingalls extreme and i dont think im going to go low enough to use them. and the rear will be the washer trick…so i will post up how the ride sometime to day or late tomorrow…

the rears are on and adjusted. the front will be done today and i should have a better review monday or tuesday after the alignment/. so far the rear end is nice and stiff . pushing the hatch down it feels real good and like it should also have a decent ride to it

i hate to say this but ive had a big set back… one of the front locking collers has gotten stuck nad wont budge. and now the sleeve spins on the shock shaft. so i am giving up on the megan coilovers and going with h&r sports.i do want it knowin that this is the first time i have been upset with megans products i have there header and short shifter and i still plan buying other things from them just not there sleeved coilovers…

What? The adjustable collars got stuck? Did you mess up the threading or something? Did you try WD-40 to loosen it? So what did you do with the coilovers… took it out and tossed it? Is it Megans fault or your fault that the collars got stuck… try getting a refund dude.

Man I hope nothing happens to mine, I’m going to try to install them this weekend…

be careful im going to contact megan cuz i had vdo over to look at them and i had the front drivers side coller about an inch or less from the very bottem of the coller and i still had a 3 finger gap. on and i sitting on my bump stops wich had already been cut in half 2 or years ago… i havent tossed them the rears have to stay on for awhile since my stupid ass broke the shock shaft where you put the allen wrench in to keep the shaft from spinning. so i gotta order 1 rear illumina shock.

the coller screwed up cuz i went to adjust it lower i want a 2 finger gap in front and 3 in the rear. well the locking coller got stuck where the allen screws hold the sleeve to the shock. it wont budge and it now spins the sleeve when you try to spin it…

i can say that the rears work perfectly and there adjusted the way i like it.and from pushing the hatch up and down it feels so nice esp since i can adjust the damping… just do your fronts first so that way if there is a problem you will know before half the kit is on…i will post up pics this weekend… i hope my h&r sports are in by saturday im tired of my car not being able to be drove…

and like i said in my last post. im not bashing megan in any way. ive heard great things about the full coilovers and do intend on buying more things from them. but they emailed me the instrustions for this kit and its in pdf format and my harddrive is packed with stuff i need so i cannot install adobe

Instead of Adobe (it’s a bloated POS anyway), try FoxIt Reader. It’s like 1.5mb in size and way faster than Adobe.

lol i cant even hold 3 more songs on my hard drive… ive gotta some day spend the money for another hard drive

Pakage

I have the megan racing sleve coilover with the Tokico illumina shock set up on my 92 integra. For Auto x and driving aggressive the setup is amazing. But for daily driving, forget it, its a nightmare. You fell every thing on the road, you bounce like no tommorow, and it hits hardd. I have the illuminas set at 4 all around and the drop is 3inch in the front and 2.5 in the back. Overall, not bad i like it. If you can sacrifice comfort, go for it.

Hey KA240, you’re saying for daily driving it bounces like a mofo even on the softest setting possible on the Illuminas? I have this setup but never have the time to install them yet… just want to know beforehand so I know what to expect… thanks.
