Mini's 91 RS Build

That sucks, I actually gave all the parts you need for the conversion. All the years of parts whoring comes in handy sometimes, lol. Too bad it’s kinda junk to me now…oh yeah and tires come in handy when driving like a nutcase

^^^How could you?! Didn’t you know I was going to need this? Ridiculous Rediculous. Lol jk. BUT! you only get one warning. and yes…some non snow tires would have been nice. p in the g…p in the g.

So, this might happen sooner than I thought. I picked up my next newest item this afteeerrnooonish.

VOOOOWWAALLLAA!

Just need to find a non-vtec distributor. Which I’m still waiting for a guy to get back to me.

I didn’t know, I just saw your build thread like a day ago or two ago!!!. In my defense, I haven’t been on G2IC for like a year or two…but I’ll be sure not to let that won’t happen again

Make sure the harness you have has the adapter for the distributor also. From the pic, I can see the ECU sub-harness by I can’t make out the distributor jumper harness.

hum… I guess I can take that into consideration. I SUPPOSE…

but yea…i guess that wasn’t really a good picture huh haha I’m pretty sure I have it. But maybe I’m thinking its a different. I didn’t order from this place but this is how it looks.

Hmm, looks like there is alot of wires you need to solder. I’m assuming that extra plug is for a VAFC if you choose to use one? The adapter I’m talking about looks like this http://rywire.com/store/obd0-obd1-distributor-adapter-p-28.html?osCsid=3a4b840dc6af8a336a26d7b2b85b445e

Good deal looks like there is no distributor conversion clip though :frowning:

I believe you can order that part seperatley from rywire and other places. WOuld be cheaper getting a conversion clip than sourcing a distributor. Of course charm and personality can adjust this price but I wouldn’t know lololol I’m just a dork with glasses people don’t hook me up

UGH! thanks guys. Making my life more miserable. I shall get back to you guys on that :D…
Lol I wouldn’t either mr. transformers but I can always hire someone. you!

NOTE!:: I’ve also been contemplating what I should do. So I need some advice/opinions. I’m pretty sure I have an idea what I want to do but just wanted to know what everyone else thought. So after I get this situation with the tune and all that done with. My next step is boost. This is where my problem is. I already have a rebuilt T3/T4 ready for me but nothing else. I am eventually going to go to a GT28 butttt…if I go with my T3/T4 first and switch to a GT28 when I’ve saved up enough for it some of the piping is going to be different. The exhaust side and my flanges are going to change. I don’t want to have to dick around with buying more piping and flanges when I get the bigger turbo. I was thinking about it for awhile and leaned towards the side of just saving up for what I want is the GT28. Reason why I want to go with the T3/T4 is because my first day on the track for NASA is coming really really soon…and I would like a turbo set up but if I go with the GT28 its not happening on time for sure in face I don’t know when it can happen. But if I went with the T its not a for sure thing either but 80% more likely. Help Mini?

Well the first question is what are your plans with the car? You have to build the car to match the purpose you want for it. My bad, I just noticed you are going to be doing some track events. My advice is to keep the motor stock for now. Learn the car before you add power to it. Remember driving on the street is not like driving on the track. It’s a whole different experience. It’s always best to learn on a slower car than a quicker one. That way it would be easier to learn to take the right lines and soforth.

Oh and as far as the distributor jumper, I don;t think Rywire sells it separate anymore. :frowning: Try here http://www.phearable.net/shoppingcart/obd0-obd1-distributor-jumper-p-75.html

Its in the process for road race car. Its going to be high powered, built etc. Lots of requirements, I need roll cage, extinguisher, hans device turn off switch etc. Hoping sometime at the end of the year I’ll be getting a roll cage in it. But the power is going to have to be lowered to match the requirements for power to weight ratio, but I plan on moving up to Super Touring later one which is unlimited everything. So in the long run. gt28 maybe 30/76 depending on response time.

**just read your edit. That is true. That just makes me lean more towards what I was thinking. Keep it as is well with the tune of course until i can get the gt28 and by then I’d have plenty of time practicing on the track with a good amount powered car. Thanks for the link too hun! lots of help you are. Too bad you’re not in Co.

Oh and just figured, he’s going to make one for me. So I don’t need to worry about the distributor harness  whew.

One thing you may have alot of is torque steer. Always remember that a FWD car is always limited to power because the front wheels are traction limited. Honestly, you don’t need that much power to be competitive. I’d work on the suspension before going for power and learn the limits before going any further. Do little by little, learn what each mod does to your car before you do more. That way, if the car doesn’t respond correctly or doesn’t feel right, you know what could have caused it.

I just reread your edit, no problem, I miss playing around with Hondas. I actually just went and looked at the leftover harnesses I had laying around and was thinking about making you one, lol. Glad whoever is making one for you, I’m kinda lazy sometimes.

I think it’s pretty cool you are going to track your car. That’s the only way you are going to learn the full potential of a car. That’s what I built mine for also. I’m actually going to be doing an ice autocross tomorrow on a frozen lake, lol. But not with the DA

Yea thats the first thing I worked on after I did my motor swap. I made sure all my bushings are good and if needed replaced got full damper springs and made sure I could stop first haha. But I have plenty of more to do. Its a never ending list right now. Sigh…I guess its whats makes it a project and makes me love my car even more. Frozen lake? fun. What car are you taking?

Poly bushings? Ummm don’t run those…they’re baaaaad !!! Good job with the brakes…most people overlook that, I’m impressed!!! For tires, make sure not to go R compounds just yet, stick with street tires for now. I forgot, I think I read in your build thread you are running an Unorthodox pulley. I sure that isn’t the crank pulley you are talking about. Don’t go overboard with your project, just take your time. Like I tell everyone, racing isn’t going anywhere.

Yup, racing on a frozen lake tomorrow with the BMWCCA. That should be fun, I think they checked the ice a few days ago to make sure no one goes under. If not, ummm well I guess it should be a really interesting day, lol.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Looks like you’re making some headway though. Did you get the boost control components with your S300? So you can do boost by gear

How come you say their bad? Yea for tires I have the falken azenis rt-615. But they’re not on now of course cause they don’t work on the snow. But those are what I’ll be working with in a month in half-ish. Man time is going by fast its already March in a couple days. Yea I know, well I have to take my time otherwise I can afford it haha. You guys take any pics while out there?

50cent: Its okay, I’m not surprised. With my luck something always goes wrong :(. But I’m just glad I was able to get my hands on a harness a lot sooner than I thought. But hopefully I can get it tuned next week sometime. I’m pretty sure but nothing set in stone yet. You left too early on Thurs, you could’ve seen my awesome way of trying to get rid of Glynn for his parts. lol

Let’s just say after a few track days, check them out to make sure they aren’t distorted. They don’t have a huge track record for lasting under race conditions.

I just got back from the autocross and it was pretty badass. Let’s just say it’s fun to say that on the weekend, I was on a frozen lake racing with about 2 inches of snow and ice everywhere while in a convertible with the top down !!!

lol…I guess I’ll have to see then huh. Cause its already in. I thought those are suppose to be durable. Are they trying to trick me?

What car were you driving? and no pics for people to see here?! common!

hi!

Yup, just keep an eye on them every so often. Of course they say they are durable…don’t believe all the marketing. Just don’t put the rest in since I’m sure yo haven’t yet.

I was in an E30 325I convertible and I’ll get pics up sooner or later, lol.

Its only been one month and this thread has more pages that threads that have started years ago. I wonder why that is…
