Misc. Questions?

I have just a few questions.

  1. I have a cheap strut bar, it’s clearance is really sucky. I was wondering if the other bars, like the DC Sports, or Skunk2 have a better clearance.

The bar is rubing and vibrating against this:

Also, my shifting seems to be a little wierd, Like the synchros are going out, I am going to 1. Adjust the Clutch Cable, 2. Change Tranny Fluid, 3. Get new synchros (hopefully 1 or 2 fixes it)

What Tranny Fluid Would you guys recommend?

That rubbing is something that just about everyone has to deal with that has ABS. There is just not enough room there to make a strut bar fit right. You can tweak it to make it rub less though…

What do you mean by your shifting feels weird?? How does it feel?? Does it grind?? You gotta be a little more descriptive to get a good answer our of that question.

I would recommend Honda MTF over anything else. That is all that I use in mine. I wouldnt even consider putting anything else in there.

Thanks Man for the help. I don’t think that I have ABS, the thing it is rubbing on has a line that comes from my intake, then a larger one way valve, then to the thing. That is then attachted the my throttle housing. Can I take this thing off? I do have a 93 LS, how will I know if I have ABS or not? The ABS light does not come on when I turn my car on, I don’t think there is an ABS light.

Also, as far as the shifting goes, When I have the clutch engaged it sometimes will grind just a little, very slightly, sometimes, I have to use quite a bit of force to get it into gear. (But I am a weakling)

Thanks Man,

hehe, that pic is not of my car, that was one I found elsewhere here on the board :stuck_out_tongue:

It is easy to tell if you have ABS or not. In that pic that you posted up you can see a reservoir on the left side of the intake piping. That is the ABS reservoir. If you have one of those then you have ABS.

That does sound like a synchro problem, but it could also be that your clutch is adjusted out of spec. You might want to mess around with your clutch cable before you start tearing the tranny apart.

OK cool. But what about this think where the arrows are pointing, that is where my strut bar grinds, should I get a different model? Like a DC or Skunk2 ?

Or can I take this off?

You Dont really need that vacume canister that is attached to your Throttle body (has the little line with a check valve that runs into you intake, Mines not connected…Its purpose is to help cold idle or some such shiet… I dont have mine on and ive never noticed a difference in Idle, performance, cold starts…so on.

Cool, plus you live in WA, so I am sure you have had your share of cold starts :stuck_out_tongue: thanks man.

yups…

Do the DC-Sports or Skunk2 bars have better clearance.

how exactly do you adjust the clutch cable?
thanks

The DC bar is crap and I dont know about the skunk bar since I havent never seen one on a car.
If you have a non ABS teg then get the Neuspeed, it is the best bar that you can get.
If you have ABS try either OBX-R or Spoon. I know both of those are rigid and work well.

That vacuum canister that is attached to your Throttle body (has the little line with a check valve that runs into you intake) helps with the idle but also it also helps with slowing the ?valve? that opens and closes to let air into your throttle body so that when you take your foot off the gas quickly you don’t get a jerk from the air being closed off to quickly, i’m pretty sure that is whats its there for, mostkly comfort i think…someone back me up on this tho
.

easy solution is to remove your strut bar and put washers so that it clears the dashpot. all you probbaly need is one washer on each mounting bolt.
