Long story short, my stereo got stolen. I am about to get a a replacement stereo but something inside the dash is missing and I don’t know what. I think it’s call a stereo cage but not sure. Can someone tell me? I attached a picture to help illustrate my situation.
Thanks for the information. I knew the metal cage slides in but I don’t know how it was mounted. I didn’t do the stereo installation, it came with the car. I guess the metal cage had metal tabs which you pushed into the metal frame to secure it. Then there’s the plastic cage which I know is the face kit.
All I’m concern is that I thought there were rails or some sort to hold the metal cage which house the CD player so that it won’t fall off. Like I said above, I didn’t do the installation, so I have no previous knowledge on how the old stereo was installed.
I have an OEM stereo and pocket ready to install. I also have a honda radio from a 92+? Civic that I had in my car along with the pocket and it fit perfect. If you want it let me know. I bought the stereo install kit from Metra part #99-7898. You do not need a stereo mounting sleeve to install the radio because it comes with brackets that screw to your radio and hold it in place.
it “clips” in…there are things on the backside of the pic i showed you…like little plastic pieces that stick out, but bend in to allow you to put it in there, then stick back out, thats how it stays in there…
