Mobil 1 high mileage burning away

This is my first time using 5W30 Mobil 1 high mileage full synthetic oil. I was thinking that if it could last through 10k mi, I wouldn’t have to worry about changing it during the cold winter months. I was surprised to find my oil light on when I was coming home last night. Oil was seriously low. It has 4k miles on it. I don’t have any oil leaks that I can see. Has anyone experienced this this before? I don’t know if it’s a coincidence with something else going wrong. I usually use 5W30 Castrol GTX high mileage and didn’t have anywhere near this kind of burn off.

The engine was also seriously rebuilt after a head gasket issue. I’ve had about 3 oil changes with no issues before this last oil changes with the full synthetic.

Had the same problem when I tried running Royal Purple last year. V6 Accord, never had oil consumption issues before. I would just buy whatever oil was on sale at oilchange time, decided to try the RP for better gas mileage. After awhile, oil light came on 1 morning on my way to work…WTF? Oil level was seriously low! I immediately did an oil change switching to a synthetic blend with no more consumption issues…

Thanks for replying. I’ll try another brand. Just find it really odd for a high quality oil.

Maybe it’s because it’s made for engines over 75,000 miles and I have 350,000. Just can’t handle it!

It’s not a perfect fix but if the problem persists you could go to a heavier oil. 15w40 or so.

I’d be worried about using that in winter, but I also notice you’re in Canada. . .
