Mods with no gains

Maple Grove opened for grudge racing yesterday and I went. Last season I ran a 16.12 @ 85.03mph with H/I/E. This year I went with what i had last season plus an UR Flywheel (7.8lb), CAI, Exospeed Cams(LS909) and STR Cam gears @ int+2, exh-2. My first run was 15.87 @ 84.39mph…I have a JSP mecha wing which I took off for my second run putting me at 15.89 @ 85.28mph. :wtf: Now, when I went down there I was expecting to be a 15s give or take a couple tenths. Should’nt those mods have made me faster than this?! All my times were quicker 60’, 330, 1/8, etc. A kid in a Civic Dx with a STOCK B18A swap was hitting 15.11(I raced him). Would a tranny swap be the way to go?(Thinking YS1)
Oh, If this is in the wrong forum, please move it.

atmosphere temp? ground temp? tire condition? same clutch? all are things to consider in drag … ys1 = faster times

the temp was 70 the first run and dropped to 68 by the last one. Yes, same clutch(doesn’t slip). And I have NEW street tires on…they gripped real good. Tire PSI @ 15. I don’t know the ground temp though…

why so low on tire psi… it might not be necessary to run that low. just a thought

run ur tire pressure around 20-24 if im not mistaken, ur just asking for a warped rim and slow times… slicks need that low of pressure, its bad for street tires unless you can wipe ur ass with money i wouldnt suggest it

ys1 on a stock ls motor?

yea, I am seriously considering a YS1 tranny. Unless someone can post a link to various gear ratios of other honda tranny’s.

my civic dx with a stock b18a swap ran the same thing. Maybe you should buy a civic.

what’s the tranny code on your dx? I’m not too familiar with the civic tranny’s. Also, do you by any chance know the weight of the dx?

civic tranny? it was a b18. I had an A1 LS tranny.

ben

maybe you should get your car tuned w/ the cams??? seems like that would help.

the civic is lighter than your teg. weight reduction is free. did you remove your ps belt?? ive heard that help a little??

no, i didn’t remove the ps belt. You’re probably right about getting it tuned, I geuss at a dyno would be best. it doesn’t idle right either. i think i may have moved my powerband with the cam gears to a lower rpm range and was winding the gears out. who knows…I’ll get it tuned, then go back to the track.

yeah. a real dyno is always better than the butt dyno. i dont think you can guess where to set the cam gears.
