Molding removal (CIVIC CX type)

Everybody loves that kooky CX minus ths side moldings look

so

1.Take a pair of vice grips and clamp down on the molding front and rear of the door

  1. use a couple of those cheap plastic screw drivers to depress the tabs holding in the left over clips or break of the hears with a set of pliers and let the rest fall out the back

  2. Open the door and remove the 10mm bolt holding the molding on

  3. Pull the molding up and away from the car leaving the white clips

  4. twist the white clips 90 deg and pull them out

  5. take small pieces of electrical tape and cover the holes or

  6. get a 1.5 in wide 6ft long section of vinyl and run it along all 14 holes or

  7. heave a body shop fill them in

From 5feet away with poilshed and waxed paint and matching color tape you might not even be able to tell

I am waiting until all the bodywork is ready to be done before I have the holes welded and painted

The section behind the door is clean the rest is not

sounds more like somethign that shoudl be submitted as a teg tip…but waht is a CX? :shrug:

the CX model eg that came standard with no mouldings ie

I thought explaining the moulding removal like this was helful instead of recommending the 4 hour remove the plastic odyssey

are you serious? Thats the lamest way to remove moldings, you must have ruined them by grabbing them w/ the vice grips. All you have to do is get behind the panels and pinch the clips w/ some needle nose pliers. That way you don’t ruin the moldings or the clips. I guess if you know you aren’t going to need the moldings… then go ahead ruin them… but IMO thats wreckless and stupid. Someone out there probably needs those parts, and would love to have them, so why not make a couple bucks and destroy one less G2 part??? I hate seeing parts go to waste.

Oh, and it doesn’t take 4 hours, its quite quick actually, and you don’t have to damage anything.
