more detailing questions...

I have more detailing questions:

What cloth/mitt/?? do you use to wash the car?

What product do use for windows, and what kind of cloth? It seems like no matter what I use on the windows there’s streaks, even with the stuff that’s not supposed to streak!

Somebody mentioned “mirofibre” here, what is that and where do you get it?

Alim.

Also, what cloth to dry the car after washing?

^ bump ^

use sheepskin chamois to dry thee car after washing.

usee non streeak windex for the windows, and the streeaks come from greeasee reesidue. So if you get a non-greeasy cloth to go over it after ur initial wipe, that should take caree of it.

Use a sponge to wash thee car; wash mitts tend to keep dirt stuck in them; sponges, u can just hosee any dirt off it.

what color is ur car?

it’s that kinda maroon/metallic red color.

thanks for the tips!

what kind of cloth?

Here’s a classic method for window washing/detailing.

Crumple up some newspapers and wipe down your windows after spraying them with windex or something.

I’ve used that “Invisible Glass” stuff. It worked pretty good, but Windex may work just as good.

my process

Wash car: Terry cloth towel and real car wash soap…( no joy, dawn, dial)

dry car: THE ABSORBER!!! I used to have the chamois and the absorber blows them out of the water.

windows: the absorber or squeegee

rims: Terry cloth

what product on the windows?

and what’s “The Absorber”?

I have the absorber. It’s a reusable cloth that dries without streaks. Available at Wal-Mart and auto part stores.

Anybody ever use the California Blade?

the blade works well for the big water but i still need the absorber.

windows i use a chamois.
body i use a cotten towel for it will not remove wax like a chamois does. for washing i use a mitt, for they do not trap dirt like sponges do. i never liked the specialized window cleaners for they leave unseen streaks, well seen when windows fog up.

E-DA9 says use a sponge to wash the car, b/c mitts tend to trap dirt.
integguy91 says use a mitt, b/c sponges tend to trap dirt.

integguy91: what product do you use on the windows with your chamois? windex?

well, sponges have pours that can trap dirt. mitts are fiberous, so dirt won’t get trapped. I use a chamios that has been soaked then wrung out to dry windows no additive.

How 'bout on the inside of the windows?

i use soft baby diapers to dry the car, you know the ones that you need a safety pin to hold up. my step dad turned me on to them and hes very meticulus about his cars so i trust that. hth a little

Like integguy91 said, dont use any products on the window because they can leave hidden streaks…i hate that…I just rinse the absorber after the exterior is dried and then I wipe down the interior windows…no products needed.

Invest in “the absorber” you will be glad you did
