more LS/VTEC ...yee haw!!!!

well, i think ive determined everything that will be put into this motor finally!!

what i got:
b16 head (94 del sol, actually b16a3 fully rebuilt with OEM parts)
b16 IM
b16 Oil pump
b16 PR3 pistons

gotta get:
b18a or b block
shotpeening the b18 rods
ARP rod bolts
ARP head studs
OEM wrist pins
OEM bearings and seals (ALL OF THEM!! no leaks for me!)
P72 water pump
want to use a PR3 ecu

shop work:
balance rotating assembly
head work obviously
IM NOT MILLING THE HEAD
IM HOPING NOT TO DECK THE BLOCK

next year:
different rods
VTEC tranny with LS 5th gear
block girdle
different cams (if i got the cash)
upgrade the valvetrain (if i got the cash)

anyway, im not planning on revving this past 8k, is that a safe number or should i go lower??

any problems you guys see??

You’re not going to be able to rev to 8k on stock rods (even if they’re stress-relieved) without a block girdle.

can you rev aftermarket rods to 8k without a girdle? Does the girdle protect the crank or the rods?

I rev to 8k all the time… almost two years and 30,000 miles later. No crank girdle, however; my next LS/Vtec will have a girdle.
