Motor in!! Thanks again fellas!!!

I just want to say thanks to Elmer, Paul, and Eric for coming down yesterday to help drop the motor in. Damn, I am still surprised that we got that rear tranny bracket in soooo smoothly!! Thanks again. Today I went to pick up a plug for the engine oil temp switch that was missing on the back of the block and put that in. I hooked up the most of coolant hoses, sequenced and torqued down the motor mounts, put in the top part of the header and the fans, finished up on the A/C and P/S systems, cleaned up the hoses and wiring. Right now I’m missing some small stuff, pcv hoses, oil pan (the thread on the bolt is gone), ITR throttle cable bracket, vacuum t fittings and cap, and one or two more small coolant hoses. Other than that and putting the axles back in, she’s just about ready to go. Thanks again fellas.

Hey Eric, don’t forget the RC 270s and the Fields.

Elmer, I’ll get you back on the IACV and engine oil temp switch as soon as Jeff sends them to me.

Paul, thanks for holding the flashlight for us while the rest of us dropped the motor in!..Hahhaha…jk dude. Thanks for coming down.

G2Guru: Hey Dan, what’s the easiest way to hook up the PCV and the small hoses through the ITR intake manifold without breaking anything?? TIA for your reply.

I’ll write up a review on the motor, tranny, and dyno after the break-in. I’m gonna baby this motor for a good 1000 miles.

Later folks,

-Leo B.

Oh yeah almost forgot. Does anybody know where I can get a TPS sensor gasket. The guy at the Acura parts counter and I searched all over the Helms and he says it’s not available. The gasket is like a thin cardboard. Do you guys think I can use a silicone gasket instead? There are no fluids or vacuum that goes through the sensor if I’m correct? Any suggestions?

And what do you use to tighten and crimp down the CV boot metal cable? I checked kragen’s and pep boys and they have never heard of any specialy tool for it. Where can I get this crimp down tool?? Thanks.

For the TPS gasket I used a thin film of HondaBond but you can use any liquid gasket maker and probably can get away with silicone (I would just be weary of the heat because silicone may break down). I think the only purpose of the gasket there is to keep moisture and dirt from entering.

As for the CV Boots, you should be able to rent those CV-crimp pliers from Autozone. If not, any reputable shop should be able to crimp them for you for free or for only a few dollars. I hope that helps.

EDIT: Just wanted to confirm that Honda doesn’t sell this gasket separately from the throttlebody. I haven’t found it anywhere else either so just follow the above directions.

Great! Thanks Jon!

Leo, I am so jealous of you right now. You are about 6 months ahead of me. Gook luck on the finishing touches and let us know how it pulls!

Thanks Louis. Hurry up and get yours done too! I’m curious to see what she dynos at also.

I’ll post some pics as soon as I upload them into imagestation.

Leo, I don’t quite understand your question? Please elaborate a bit and I’ll do my best to help you out.

Leo… . taking the PCV grommets off of the intake manifold is usually the only thing that damages it. I have a couple of grommet/hoses taht haven’t been damaged and will work fine. When you put them in it’s actually a lot easier and damage is less likely.
