What are the differences btwn a 92-93 RS/LS/GS and the 90-91 (All 5spd Models) / 92-93 GS-R??
When ordering after market motor mounts, this how they are categorized…What determines this difference? I would like to order the Billet Innovative Mounts for my 92 RS…but they tell me they are only available in black for my yr and model.
And…
Does this change when you swap motors?
well 90-91 are all the same no difference in the model of the car but the 92-93 gsr use the same mmounts as the 90-91 and all of the 92-93rs/ls/gs are the same, i guess they just changed they way the mounts are bolted to the chassis compared to the 90-91. i guess they dont make the billet mounts 92-93 which is weird imo i just purchased some innovative’s for mine but mine is a '91
oh yeah also you would use the same mounts unless your going k-series,h-series and if your using a hydro tranny then you would need the actuator.

The mount on a 92/93 rs,ls,gs is wider on the driver side (timming belt side) an a 90/91 is skinner. So you can not put a 92/93 in the 90/91 body
i don’t mean to jump in your thread & ask a question but i have a similar question. so when buying mounts, do you buy it for the year of the motor or the year of your car?
the year of the car cause the mounts bolt to the motor all the same iirc, and then cable or hydro trans is a given for the mounts

So does that mean the one could use a 90-91 mount on a 92 since it’s thinner?
i know people that have but it moves around alot an you cant really get on it so i would not unless it was super temp an i was not going to drive it really
if you shimmed it yes. however i wouldn’t recommend it. you really want the engine to be placed perfectly.
The only mount that’s different on the 5speeds is the driver’s side.

from my experience… the 90-91 driver side mount is thinner from the 92-93. now if you have a db2 (92-93 gsr)chasis like i do the driver side mount is thinner like the 90-91. i went through this when i was putting a temporary b18a1 in my gsr chasis
Well, I have Innovative mounts on my 92-93 GS DA and My motor has a tilt…Driverside is lower and my rear bushing is popping out to the tranny side and Its a freakn head ache. My Opinion is buy Hasports dont wast ur money on BS!

the only difference that i noticed is that the 90-91 driver side mounts is a lot smaller than the 92-93 mounts. the tranny (i dont know cuz i used the inovative auto to manual trans mount), front and rear are interchangable. i know this because i just recently did a b17 swap into my 92 auto. the b17 that i bought, the driver side mount was identical to the 90-91 , but i’m not sure if that b17 was previuoly swap into 90-91? correct me if im wrong.
i have all four innovative mounts for my 91 and my engine is placed perfectly.
i was checking innovative’s website and the 92-93 drivers side mount appears to have more angle than the 90-91 mount, can anyone confirm this?
Let me make this easier for every one. All 90-93 5 Speed DA’s use the same mount except for the driver side mount. The 90-91 driver side mount is diffrent from the 92-92 and yes that includes the DB2.
There isn’t any more angle on the 92-93 mount, because the block mount is the same. The difference comes in width between the years, where the 92-93 is wider than the 90-91s
You aren’t exactly too clear in your wording there, might want to clarify a little better for others. The DB2 uses the same driver’s side as the 90-91s and the 92-93 RS/LS/GS is the wider piece (look at the part numbers I posted above)
