Motor Mount Question

My idle shakes violently with the AC on. I thought it was a fuel injector problem because when I pull #1 or #2 plug wire it stays on, but when I pull either #3 or #4 it shuts off immediately. Anyway the driver side motor mount moves back and forth between the two pieces of the mount. In other words, the motor mount is secure to both the engine and the frame, but moves all the way back and forth to each other. Is this normal? Does the shaking problem lie in the fuel injectors or what? TIA

are you saying that the motor mount is moving between the mounting positions on the frame and engine? if so, look for any type of fractures. from what you are describing, it sounds like the motor mount is indeed broken.

sounds like motor mounts

If this isn’t normal, how much is the driver side motor mount supposed to move? Is the entire mount broke need to be replaced or just the rubber part?

look at spending around $200+. it is not easy to replace, unless you are very good at lifting engines up. you will need to raise the driver’s side. call your local honda/acura dealer and get an estimate, then find a well-known honda shop and they will be a little cheaper. but make sure you get it done at a good place.

its not gonna cost over 200, trust me, if it’s the drivers mount u have notthing to worry about, it’s easily to remove and you do not need a a lift your engine to removie, the other 3 moutns should be able to hold up the engine weight while the otehr is removed, but if u want u can just a jack to hold the engine in place just find agood mounting point to secure hte jack, and put hte car on jack stands to hold hte car securely

If you still have original mount I can guarantee that the front and back mounts are shot.
I replaced the front mount myself- it’s not hard at all. But fan shroud (sp ?) has to be removed to put new one in.

As for the rear mount, I heard it’s much harder to replace. Now I’m debating whether to do it myself or take it to the shop.
