Ok, i need to move my DA. Problem is, its parked in my one car (barely) garage. I have to back it out the garage, down a VERY tiny incline and into my driveway. The driveway is dirt but ill be putting plywood down for it. Itll be going back on jackstands when in the drive way. Anyone ever do this and can shed some light on the best and safest way to accomplish this?
Go rent some wheel dolly’s and set the car on top of them to move it. Or if you know someone with a tow truck, ask to use there’s.
Arent wheel dollies for placing under a wheel/tire? If you mean flat furniture dollies, i thought of that but theyre wood and i didnt know if they would support it.
if its a shell pick it up and move it with some help. me and a 3 other guys picked up a da shell and moved it like 50 ft no problem.
I dont think the wheel dollies will work as there are no wheels but you never know. I think i would just go get a few movers dollies like 4 or 6 slap them under the car an move it slow down the drive way on to the plywood
harbor freight sells 1000lb capacity dollies in their shop tools area.
get a few and push.
Got a couple friends that can help you out? I’d say that’s the cheapest way
get 2 jacks for the front and rear and push slowly lol i did it b4 it worked fine

x2^
I did this before with a civic. we used 2 home depot dollys and an atv. atv was needed because there are no hand brakes to stop and rest when pushing up a hill!.. real easy to push once its on wheels though…
the jack idea works too. help a friend move his car when his lower ball joint broke on him on the highway… either way, once its on wheels and some careful planning and you’ll be good to go…
yeah, a couple floor jacks or standard furniture dollies will work. I’ve used both methods to move shells around. Obviously you’re at a disadvantage w/ the dirt road - I’d say dollies would be your best bet. I picked up a $10 mini one at Harbor Freight strictly for wheeling engines around in the garage, works great. 2-4 of these would make rolling a shell around a breeze.
I was just at the newer HarborFreight store near where i work and saw the same dollies, figured 6 would do it.
6 would probably be more trouble than anything as it’d be hard getting all 6 to be weighted properly at the same time due to different heights between the ground and various parts of the chassis. They are pretty damn strong, and a shell doesn’t weigh that much, 4 should be more than enough and you might be able to keep 3 of the 4 planted the entire time.
werd!
I agree on the fact 2 more dolleys might just complicate things.
whats going on Jordan, getting ready for a little paint??
if it doesnt have suspension parts on it, placing one at the front and two at the rear makes rolling shells around a breeze. my spec miata shell has been sitting on them and been rolled around a shop to make room for close to 6 months, still holding up fine.
Yea tryin to get her ready to have the cancer fixed and painted up. Still not 100% on color yet though. Just need to get er outside where I’ll have some decent light, I’ll be able to open the doors all the way and I can use the hose to clean up a bit. It’ll also be much easier to do the welding and filling the spotwelds with it outside.
just an Idea, but gray is allways a sick color :naughty:
Haha Moonrock gray is still on the list among a few other grays, it’s pretty much between gray and an earthy green color. Been lookin at Jeep Effect Green alot lately.

Got the dollies. However i only have one jack and doing the front or back results in the jack bottoming out before the car hits the dollies. The only place to put the dollies is under the floorpan beneath the passenger compartment. I realize I can put something on the dollies but it seems they would have to be spaced fairly high, 6-8 inches minimum.
Is there an easier way to do this that I might be missing?
im doing the same thing. except my integra has the rear wheels on it and on the front the suspension is all removed, so no wheels. i was just at harbor frieght. I thought of 2ideas.

like colin said use wheel dollies but put them on the frame of the car and push it out of my garage on to a flatbed.

i found moving straps that move heavy funiture. there rated up to 1 ton. I figure get two of those and get some muscle, pick the front end up and walk the car out of my garage. the straps are 10 bucks. I figured i could use em later on for moving if I ever needed.
