my mp3 doesn’t power up … it only powers up when i press the eject cd button and as soon as the cd is out it turns off … ??? any suggestions wats wrong ???
Need a lot more info, like what HU is it plugged into, stock or aftermarket?
How is it plugged in, what type of adapter?
Also it’s a good bet it’s a G2, but MM&Y of car is also useful info.:whisper: 94
the mp3 is after market itz a ce-3040 mp3 by autosound
Assuming you have it wired properly, the problem has to be in the HU itself and it could be any number of things, as with many HUs the eject function is independent of no/off switch, that may be why it works and nothing else.
The first thing to check is the wiring, does the HU have 12V+ switched, [normally red] 12V+ constant, [normally yellow] and a ground, [normally black].
I can find little info on the HU, when a Google Autosound CE-3040, or try autosound.com all I get is Korean, [I think] sites.:stare: 94
you probably did not wire up the constant power correctly. that’s happened to me a few times… best case scenario anyhow.
what you mean the hu connection … if there was no power in i don’t think it would power up at all cuz it only powers up when u press the eject button … ?? and how do i check if it has a constant 12v i’m sure it gets power cuz it powers up when u press the eject button
connect it straight to the battery. Constant 12 volt. as FCM mentioned, some stereos will be able to eject without being completely connected.
you’ll have to figure out your switched power. both of them and your ground need to be coonected so that the stereo can work.
no i mean the whole unit powers up when i press eject, the whole thing including the face so im not sure itz that itz not getting enough power
“so im not sure itz that itz not getting enough power”
Well unless you check how would you ever know for sure?
You have a problem, you have to start someplace, the first thing you check if you are having a problem with the HU not turning on is the wiring, you need to confirm or eliminate that as the problem.
As I said the problem is probably in the HU, could be as simple as a blown diode or defective switch or as bad as a processor chip, but you wouldn’t assume it’s a chip and not worth the repair before you made sure that the HU has a good ground, and a good 12V+ switched and constant.
Once you are sure the powers and ground are good, reboot the HUs processors, unplug the HU for a good min. or two, reconnect and wait for HU to initialize, if it still will not turn on the problem has to be in the HU and unless you have the tools and know-how to repair a car audio HU, take it to a shop or just replace it.:roll:94
okay i hooked up the positive and negative ( red and black ) to a power supply and guess woot … it turns on … now i’m trying 2 figure out why the car can’t power it up
what?
“okay i hooked up the positive and negative ( red and black ) to a power supply and guess woot … it turns on … now i’m trying 2 figure out why the car can’t power it up” Gee, no kidding, so now will you check and make sure that there is power and ground at the OEM radio harness…
Black is ground, to black lead in HU harness.
White/blue 12V+ constant, to yellow lead in HU harness.
Yellow/red 12V+ switched , to red lead in HU harness.
The white/blue is fused at fuse 14 - 15A, [hot at all times] in under dash fuse box.
The yellow/red is fused at fuse 22 -10A, [hot in acc. and run] in under dash fuse box.
Use a meter or test light to confirm that the white/blue and yellow/red have power on them, also confirm the black lead has a good ground. 94
okay i figured the proplem the yellow wire the memory one isn’t getting power…i tried 2 follow where it goes… its someware deep in the dashboard… so can sumone tell me where i can find another place 2 get a remote turn on power so when the key is placed in it turns on… cuz this way ma radio is on all the time …thnks
well, i’m not sure what the pros do but i connect it to either the battery or to something that gets constant power. if you don’t have an integrated fuse on your stereo, make sure to put one in line to all your power sources…
actually…did you follow fcm’s instructions and use the white-blue wire for constant power? if not, connect the yellow wire to that! look two posts up!
see the problem is that that wire isn’t getting any power… the yellow cable is the one for the memory … it wont turn on with out it having power… so i’m looking for an alternative place i can hook it up 2 that when the key is turned to acc theres power
the yellow one needs to be on constant power. not just in acc. you could connect it straight to the battery if you are not able to find another place. i would recommend that you check your fuses in your fuse panel to see if anything is burned out.
if i leave the yellow one in constant power the radio is on with out a key being in the car… and i checked the fuses they are fine. my question is simple where can i find a power source that is only availibe when the key is put in acc or on
well… the yellow is meant to have power all the time. you want to connect the red to an accessory. fiure it out by reading fcm’s info on post# 12. that’s all i’m gonna say about that. good luck!
If the unit you have has a red power wire, [ACC] and a yellow power wire, [constant] and connecting the yellow wire to a constant 12V+ keeps the HU on even if the ign. is off then you have miswired the red, it is connected to a 12V+ constant instead of ACC, or your HU has a blown diode between the red and yellow leads.:dozing: 94
A good way to test the head unit out of your car is with a PC powersupply, Black = Ground, Yellow = +12V. I do this with all of my new head units, they’ve all worked but it could save quite a headache.
