are there any good after market mpg gauges out there? do they work?
TI-83
Sorry, couldn’t resist. I have never seen one that wasn’t OEM on a new car.
i dont think they got them here if they do exist… it would probaly be a whole computer setup that knows how much gas at what rpm it burned… etc… might wanna check into something in japan… im sure they have it out there… they got everything
I would say a data log w/ special program.
why do you continue to post replies if you dont know how something works? Do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.
My father’s best friend was an AMC fanatic. He had several AMC matadors from 1973 to 1976. Some of them had a “fuel economy gauge”. While its nowhere near as accurate as the Lexus IS300 one (the matador’s said something along the lines of BAD GOOD BETTER BEST based on how hard you romped on it) it worked somewhat. Judging by the amount of computers they had in cars in the 1970’s I’m sure it would be fairly easy to rig up some sort of a similar system in the integra. There are alot of factors that play into MPG. 1) How you load you car , is it you and 40000000lbs of speakers and tools? 2) the condition of your engine and transmission , when was your last tune up? 3) the condition of your tires 4) do you use a/c all the time or drive with your windows down? both affect MPG. 5) are your injectors functioning properly? 6) air filter clean? 7) o2 sensor functioning properly? I dobut that cars that come with MPG gauges take all of these factors into account.
Heres where the TI-83 would come in handy heheh.
Late-eighties Ford T-Birds were available with a digital dash complete with a fuel economy calculator. The fuel gauge and odometer were both digital so the computer simply measured the amount of fuel burned vs. distance travelled. It had several features, including an instant readout of fuel economy. It would also log the instant readings to calculate the average economy. Simple and pretty accurate.
If AMC had it in 1976 then it’s obviously not cutting-edge technology.
i rode in my friend r32 n he had one… n it was cool… so i want one
