MSD SCI problems

Hey guys i just got my head swap and on my 91 ls to a 99 head. There is def more power but it is also more rough. I already bought a MSD SCI to try to compensate for that but however after i installed it, it did nothting but crank the engine.

Here is what i did, i open the cap i hooked up the + and - should not be problems with that and then the wires that used to hook up to the + and - i hook up to the white and red. there was two wires that was on the - so i hooked both of those to the red. This should be correct right? I’m so mad that it does not work. Any help is apprecaited. Oh, yes i did plug the 12v + and ground wire to the battery!

HELP =-( i want my car to be smooooooooooooth…

Yes, the red MSD wire goes to the black/yellow of the old coil wire (+) and the white from the MSD goes to the white/blue of the old coil wire (-). Then the black and orange MSD wires go to the coil’s - and + terminals where you took the stock igniter wires off of. Make sure you have good connections for your main MSD power wires too (thick black and red wires) and everything should work fine.

that’s pretty much exactly what i did. Did anyone have problems when you guys were installing them? Any tips? The guy that sold it to me said that the ground wire was very tricky and that you have to get it perfect. I do not know if he only said that just to make me believe that it was a mistake in the installation process or if it is true and that i have to try to ground it somewhere else other than the battery. Let me know guys I really need on, my car is rough like a red neck car. If in the end it don’t work i hope i can get money back from this guy and buy another one… sigh… i had everything all planned out =(

I had the same problem when I installed mine. I was at Dan’s (G2Guru) house and we were installing mine and everything was going fine for a while. Well, we ended up going to the bar about half way through the job… We got drunk and tried to finish it after the bar closed. When we finished it and cranked it over it just kept cranking.
We spent like an hour trying to figure it out on the verge of passing out (drunk & tired dont mix). We ended up going to bed…
The next morning I woke up early to find out what happened… It ends up that we hooked up the coil wires backwards. I switched them and everything worked fine after that…
Sure this was a long post, but it was funny so I decided to post it all, hehehe.
Just check your wiring again… If 2 people with years of experience in electronics can mess that up, anyone can…

Later,
