My $300 dollar project

Hey guys…I been a loooooong time member. I used to have an LS/vtec kandy burple integra until it got stolen. Then for a looooong time i been gone. I got into motorcycles, and higher end cars, i.e. porsche, nsx, bought a house, bought a boat, got into guns etc. My hobbies change and it’s because i get bored easily.

Anyways the 2nd gen integra was always in my mind and has a special place in my heart. My uncle bought a brand new 90 gs back in the day and i grew up around that car, then i bought one when i was in high school, and here we are now.

Anyways i picked up a vandalized 92 gs-r integra for 300 dollars. There was plenty of work that needed done. The windshield was smashed in, the hood was jumped all over, and the front radiator support had a minor dent. From there the owner parted the car out…Then a rolling chassis was what i found on craigslist, drove out to modesto, and towed it home.

I went to work quick on the thing. Sanded her down, took the rest of the windshield out, and junked the hood. Drilled out the old support and welded in a new one. Pulled everything out of the engine bay and sanded away. Throughout the time it was hard finding parts for her for the right price, but here she is a year later, about to start and be on the road again.

I still have to put a new dash in, convert her back to rear disk brakes, put on a distributor, spark plug wires, hook up the radiator and battery. Also put a replacement front and rear bumper (front bumper is a 90-91, going to put 92-93 on and the back the person had two exhaust and had a cut out in it)

Good news is all those parts will be picked up next week, just need to put the windshield on and then paint. I can worry about mods and new rims etc later.

I just need to figure out how to hook up the battery, where the ground and positive goes…then i should be good.

what do you guys think so far? comments good or bad…

bring that bad bitch back from the dead homie.

is that a B18 GSR motor?

e: wait i see PGM-FI… B17? original?

great find for the price

dual exhuast? nice. id do it. i dont car what ppl say.

yes i love project cars… make it a sleeper or something

yup it’s a b17…it’s definitely going to be a sleeper, now i’m just trying to figure out do i go all motor or turbo it.

as for the body, i have a set of wings west side skirt, and probably going to go with a jdp front lip…just don’t know what flows with the back end

Sweet! I am exited to watch this build.

A “sleeper” is a car that has been modified to be faster, but still looks stock on the exterior, or just like yours looks now.

Is that ryno lining in the engine bay:rofl:

In for antherbuild thread:up:

yup it’s rhino lining in the engine bay…it was done for more practical usage than for show purposes…

pretty much the main thing is that i didn’t want to tow the car to the shop to get the engine sprayed, tow it back, drop the motor in, then tow it back to spray the rest of the car…not worth my time especially for a 300 dollar car.

Most likely the car will be used as an everyday car…or if i can turn a profit then i’ll just sell it.

As for it being a sleeper…yea i won’t put the lip kit on…just going to find some stock gsr rims, and just paint it the stock gsr white.

I’m just glad i found a car that’s not rusted out, or had any frame damage. Surprisingly there weren’t many dents in the car…i just welded in the emblem holes, antenna hole, trunk key hole, and then some body work and she’s off to paint…i just hope my skills of painting haven’t been lost since my high school days.

good job looking good

does the ground and positive from the battery split?

the ground goes to the tranny, but does it also split to the chassis? or does the ground from the engine have another spot where the engine goes to the chassis…

also does the positive split too? does it go to the fuse box, but also goes to the starter?

The ground goes under the battery tray, is bolted to the frame there, and continues to a spot on the front/top of the tranny where it’s bolted to the engine.

The positive…there is a black wire going to the fuse box from the battery and then there is 2 more wires, one goes to the starter and the other goes to the other connection on the fuse box…so 2 straight from the battery to the fuse box.
i think, not 100% sure on the positive but it’s pretty close.

that is correct

man nice find for $300 bucks.good luck ,I remember your old car glad your back into it.

it’s been awhile…

update: i feel like giving up, every time i walk in and out of my garage i see the car and it’s not being worked on. What happened? Life happened…work, work, and work. Then homeowner house projects, then hobbies like wakeboarding, snowboarding, motorcycles, mountain biking etc. My priority is just not the integra anymore. yea once in awhile i get a chance to do something with her here and there, but i just tell myself if someone came along and offered the right money i’d let her go…

i just need to find a p61 ecu to get her started. Once started, maybe i’ll have enough motivation to finish her.

So far this is what’s been done;
Electrical is hooked up
Fuel is hooked up (engine receives fuel when ignition is switched to on)
Got a distributor
Radiator
Spark Plug and wires
OEM rear trailing arm with disk brakes have been installed
92-93 front and rear bumpers have been installed

I’ll probably do some more searching on the forum on what to do about plugging up the heater return line from the engine. I removed the heater core, a/c, power steering, cruise, and abs. I just removed the stuff i just don’t know what to do about plugging it up/ rerouting lines or what not. i need to figure out how to get brakes hooked up since i removed abs, and need to figure out what to do with hoses that used to plug into heater and ac units.

I swear i want to give up, but i keep looking at old pics of my purple da and i keep telling myself just keep on pushing.

keep working man! cant wait to see it done!

nice find glad to see another db2 saved.lookin forward to seeing more from this build.

updated pics are below…I think it’s time i sell the car, i couldn’t finish her, she runs, and drives straight, shifts fine, and nothing is wrong with the car. It has a check engine light cuz it’s throwing an o2 code, i have the o2 i just don’t have the time. it’s missing the windshield, and there’s no registration, besides the obvious no paint, no side moldings…do you think 3000 is asking too much?

Finish it…or I buy it for what you bought it for and finish it…haha

haha sell it for 300? of course time and labor is always a price, but for me i can’t put a price on time spent on it. it was just the enjoyment of wrenching on something…i thought i could relive high school over again and get back in a car that reminds me of my first ever job, that paid for my first ever car, that i earned on my own, that placed at shows, turned heads, and got some girls

yea i’ll have a windhshield guy come out this weekend and put one on, then i’ll call around for some paint quotes. i’m only looking to spend up to like 6-700 bucks for a windshield and a paint job. I know it won’t be the best paint job like house of color stuff, but i’ll still probably spend for some ppg paint, and do a two stage.

probably won’t put the jdp cf lip on, or the wings west rs sides, or the CF roof spoiler…i’ll probably keep it stock looking and try to find some stock suspension or raise the coilovers. I took the tein ss off and that’s already in the classifieds.

if i sold the car the way it is for $2500, i’d be happy…that way i don’t have to throw another grand into the car to make it look great. but then again if i do finish her, lol i might not want to sell her…just reg it and drive it…argh!!! i just don’t want to see it get stolen at bart or something when i go to work. I know for sure i won’t drive it on weekends either. we’ll see…thanks for the support guys…

$2500 + maybe $1000 into the car to finish it? I have the stock power steering pump, a/c condensor, compressor, and lines, and cruise laying in the garage somewhere (easily installable).

Opinions on what i should ask for it? maybe sell the side skirts, front lip, rear roof spoiler, and use the money for a windshield (175 bucks) and rest of the money towards paint?

i been in the game since mid-late 90’s, i’ve seen the scene change drastically, and i been a member for a long long long time…glad to know this forum still exist.

this is what’s been taking my time…this and then some
