My 92 Integra Beater Time trial build

I’ve been lurking these forums for a while and using it as a resource in this build. Figured I should finally contribute and post my progress so far.
This is my “ironic” integra track build. The idea behind this build comes from a bit of nostalgia from me and my friends “tuner days,” as well as a means to embarrass track snobs with a cheap honda.
I’ve raced wheel to wheel in a number of different series over the last 9 seasons and driven many different cars including spec porsche 944, spec miata, tube frame stock cars, bmw z3, 240sx and so on.
My friends and I have talked about bringing back our old “ricer” cars from back in the day for years and 6 months ago are now finally executing on this dream.
Step 1: buy the biggest piece of crap you can find. This is the day I bought her. a 1992 Integra with 240,000 miles
front end damage

plenty of rust…

How much did you pay for it?

My buddy and I with our “new” project cars

Starting to fix the front end…
the rad support was pretty jacked up and all sorts of crooked. I hooked up a come-along to “strategic points” on the front end and was able to do a pretty decent job and straightening things out

I’ll just go ahead and subscribe to this right now… :hugs:

Fast forwarding here and skipping alot of headache and busted knuckles…
Straightened out the body work, mostly.
Cut out and filled in all the rust.
Half-ass rustoleum roller paint job.
Fixed no start issue
plugged half a dozen leaks
fixed “loose” steering issue without special honda wrench…terrible job
installed wheels leftover from a 240sx project, they mostly fit.
installed koni yellows with coilovers.
cheap ebay exhaust, stock exhaust literally fell off.
hi-flow cat
new hawk hp+ pads, rebuilt calipers, and ATE super blue fluid
I think shes ready for the track…
This is the car 2 weeks ago, My intention for the weekend was to shake the car loose and discover any gremlins and problems.
To my suprise the car ran nearly perfect, only issues were the brakes faded pretty fast, rear trailing arm bushings (as well as the rest of the bushings) are garbage, shifting is sloppy, and the cheap maxxis summer tires got greasy after 4 laps.

Here’s some shaky phone video of a couple laps, have some data that I need to overlay with this. As the car sits its classed as TTF with plenty of points to spare. This weekend I ran the car in TTD because there were no other cars in “F” or “E”. I placed 4th out of 6…

some of my competition

Us on the drive home. guy with the corvette is the owner of the 3rd gen pictured above. His teg wasnt quite ready so he had to settle for the C7 that weekend. The guy with the civic si is about to buy a 3rd gen and do the same thing.
While driving back I developed a severe cv axle click. It got progressevly worse as I drove home, to the point that it was rattling in a straight line and it sounded like a jackhammer under the hood. I was sure that I was going to need a tow but I was able to limp it back…

This is awesome!! HAI (I’m afrointegra on there) represent!! I remember Weston’s old DC, nice to see you guys are getting back into it. I need to build something for High Plains again. I’ve been out there in a couple of my DA’s for some track days but never anything serious. Had a blast! If you need any parts (I’ve got some spherical radius rods bushing/bearings and a Suspension Techniques 19mm rear sway) or a hand, let me know man! I think Stu and Carl (Deceptakahn) are on here still too

Those wheels are ridiculous! Awesome progress so far, I will be posting my sedan thread shortly.

Ha, awesome to see some HAI peeps. Too bad that site died so long ago, we had some good times. Deceptekahn bought Ben’s e.g. hatch that I wanted so bad, it looked exactly like my old one. tell him I’m still annoyed by that
I may have to check out those parts you have and shoot you an offer. We should organize a CO teg track day since they seem to be getting popular again.

I got more comments (good and bad) about this car and those wheels at this NASA weekend than any of my other cars ever, and I’ve had some unique cars in the past
