my db1 project

yea i got all my parts loaded up in my trunk, gonna see if i can knock out the rack today at school, maybe traction bars tomorrow, and then header after that…cars not very pleasant to drive in parking lots rite now lol

well today was a fun day, car lost some weight, sounds like shit cuz the test pipe but heres some updates

just a pic from the under world lol

cross member and all that shit out

removed the stock exhaust manifold

trimmed the piss out of the fan shroud, and i even had to cut the hell out of the fan blades themselves to clear

front bar and header installed

the torsion bars installed

and finished product, cant wait to get rid of this test pipe

also today i ordered the innovative mounts with the 75A urethane, its stronger than the standard one but not as hard as the full solid 95A urethane, also ordered a new set of blue NGK plug wires…

How does it feel not having the lateral brace under the motor?

i’d say the only thing that feels different is not having the front tranny mount and having 21 year old stock mounts, getting too much movement thats why i ordered the innovative mounts tonight

dang , those sick parts. what r u gonna do about the o2 sensor?

The mounts will definitely solidify the motor. Even with just the ‘street’ inserts, aftermarket mounts are a HUGE upgrade.

And, I want the traction bar lol.

Good work man!

i extended the o2 sensor wire down to the location that u can see rite before the test pipe…and yea i got them just a bit higher than street since i dont have the front mount anymore…and the install was actually really fun, except for the header, we had to cut the living shit out of the fan shroud and i actually had to trim all the fan blades back a decent amount. who ever buys this header should run slim fans if they can find one with a high enough flow rating

I don’t know that I like the idea of no tranny mount.

Have you ever installed a set of aftermarket mounts? I ask because, once you’ve installed a set you will understand how stiff they really are… Virtually every aftermarket mount company will delete un-needed mounts…

Look at EK Civics… They come with 5 mounts from the factory… Innovative/HaSport kits for EKs come with 3 mounts. And even the entry level “street urethane” is good for 350’ish wheel horsepower.

When the aftermarket mount is so stiff, you don’t need the others.

If its that big of an issue, get a KTuned or ETD bar WITH accommodations for the front trans mount. But as I said, it’s really not necessary.

yea the front mount isn’t necessary with aftermarket ones, that’s why i ordered them and didn’t order the bars with the tranny mount cuz i had already planned on changing the motor mounts, i’ve had the innovative ones before and loved the way they made the car feel and those were a 65A urethane so i’m pretty sure i will love these 75A ones lol

This is my first 4 cylinder period. Mine is all stock except header and exhaust. So, to answer your question. I’m clueless. My v8 Mopars all had solid metal mounts. No rubber, no nothin.

lol yea its not big deal to lose that mount, with my stock mounts i don’t like the movement plus they are shot, why replace with OEM when i can just upgrade for cheaper lol

I know that’s right! I’m currently missing the two bolts for the rear trans mount. Not sur why the previous owners pulled them, but it wasn’t smart! I wondered why I could feel so much trans movement in the shifter

What size test pipe are you looking to run?

I’m pretty sure he is planning to run a high-flow cat.

yea i have a test pipe on it now and absolutely hate it…i will be using a 2.5" magnaflow high flow stainless cat when i find the cash, i just dropped enough on motor mounts and new ngk plug wires…plus all that shit u just saw lol…

Go with the 2.5" CarSound (magnaflow) spun-cell cat… awesome product right there.

today at school i did my alignment, and took a pic of the ground clearance of this header cuz i am really pleased with its fitment

got her up on the rack, almost lost the bumper lol

sensors on time to get to work

and a pic of my header, i can’t beleive how much fan cutting i had to do smh lol

well today i am gonna replace the o2 sensor and try n safely run it back to its new spot without having to cut anything…hard part is gonna be finding a place to do it since im not at school and dont have a jack lol
