Okay. I’ve been on the forum, for a few months. I love reading what all you guys (and girls) are doing to your cars. I have wanted a second gen Teg, since they were new. Not really expecting to ever have one, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity when the ex-wife said she would sell me our son’s '92 four-door. $200 and a seven hour tow from Wyoming, it was mine. This is what I brought home. Not exacty what I had in mind, but what can one expect for $200…
First thing I did was order wheels and tires. I know you guys aren’t hip on the cheap wheels, but there was no way I was gonna run those other things.!! And, these fit my tight-ass budget, for now.
I cleaned up a few other things, to at least improve the appearance. New corner lamps, turn lamps, and did my best to make the fascia fit better.
I already knew the trans had some issues, but hoped that the proper sized tires and a fluid service would take care of it. No luck. So, since I am am one to overspend to bring things back from the dead, I decided to take it upon myself to rebuild it. Luckily, I work at a Chrysler dealer, so I have a shop available. We pulled the engine and trans out the bottom (stupid ABS). I hung it from the hoist, and gave it a much needed bath.
It was completely covered in grease. Then, split the engine and trans.
Then, started the disassembly.
Just as I was really able to start getting into the teardown, my work partner quit. That pretty much screwed me. I didn’t know if I would ever get time to work on it. I started to wonder if I would be able to put it back together, it had been so long…
So, I took all the parts home, and put it together, there. One good thing about not having a wife… nobody to bitch about turning the table into a workbench. lol.
…
sorry fellas, but I’m out of time, for today. I will update more, tomorrow. : )
