so i have jdm 1pc headlights and i decided to buy hids for it. only thing is i couldnt find h4h hids so i decided to go the closes. of the top of my head i dont remember the bulbs but i believe their h9. well their would be times when im driving and out of nowhere they flicker. i dont know if it must be the wiring or the ballast. does anyone know? i had to rewire my connections from the h4’s to the h9’s. yes i went from a dual beam hi/lo to a single either hi or lo.
id say bad GROUND…
Did you get the HID’s from ebay? If so, they are known to flicker cuz most no name ebay HID’s are cheap. Go with McCullough, Phillips, Denso etc…
If not, it’s probably a faulty ground… try checking all the ground points in the car, especially the grounds for your headlights…
do you treat your HIDs properly? I’m not assuming you are, its just that i see youtube videos of noobs with HIDs repeatedly turning them on/off in rapid succession for the video. that is extremely bad for the ballasts.
youre supposed to give it 5 minutes resting time before turning them on or off. (i.e. if you turn them on, make sure its for 5 minutes before turning them off. If you turn them off, let them rest for at least 5 minutes before turning them on).
it could be the ground, bulbs, or ballast. any of those would make it flicker. Are you drawing power from the stock harness or from the battery?
i have had my ebay HIDs since march with no problems whatsoever.
i have the same problems too. when i turn them on one will flicker and shut off but stay on the next time. the thing is their ebay bulbs/ballasts.
I guess it’s the luck of the draw when buying HID’s from ebay… my cousin bought two sets of ebay brands and both of them flickered… he got pissed and bought a McCullough the next time and the flicker went away…
I’m saving money to get a Phillips HID kit for my retrofit… they are quite expensive compared to the ebay ones…
yeah thats true. its like everyone says “you get what you pay for”. it was worth the retrofit time though.
no their not ebay. their xenonrider’s kits. i browsed all around and me and my brother have a set on our bikes for the highs and they work perfect on his r6 and my cbr600rr. as a matter in fact my friend just purchased a kit and we hooked them on and only one ballast worked. this was out the box. anyways i guess ill have to check the wiring. and no i dont play with them i just use them at night. were i live we have no street lights so they really come inhandy. should i be switching the fuse as well? i read somewhere it needs a 20 fuse. i havnt really checked what size it really uses. but i think ill have to rewire it.
my h4h ebay ones are awesome, its been months now and they work like the day i bought them
mines were flickering…turns out the fuse melted :werd: switched a new one in and bam works fine again…
