MY motor blew!!

how often do you guys see this kind of post? anyways my b16a only had 2050 miles on it fully rebuilt and it blew… the spark plug next to the distributor is gone, the whole tip was ripped off… the rest of the sparkplugs are fine but got no compression in any cylinders… how does this happen?? the motor just blew there was no signs of anything goin wrong, as soon as i opend vtec at 6k rpm it blew!! damn i just dynoed it at 162hp =o( has this happened to anybody??

too lean =(

does your fuel pump still work?

poor tuning and/or installation

You are the same guy who had it rebuilt, bynoed at 128hp with the skunk cams and some other mods and now it blows? Who rebuilt it? DRT? You stated that the car was running funny in several other posts, and we told you there was a problem with the rebuild several weeks ago, you shouldve checked it out then. Your compression numbers were way low before this happened. I hope they gave you a warranty…

sorry to hear that

**** is that bad this shop!! drt
later

if you have no comp in any cyl’s , did you check your timing belt?

this just happened to mine also. exact same thing.

I second this one. Make sure that thing didnt break off of there.
The only other thing that I could think of that would cause 0 compression in every cylinder is if you had some MAJOR contact and the head lifted off of the block all the way across. I dont see that happening though.

i also blew a b16…but it was my fault. i ran it for 9 days, went to the track and on my 3rd run BANG and it was gone.
i blew almost an entire piston, 2 valves and some rather large peices if cylander wall through my exhaust.
i actually felt the peices hit the bottom of the car (was open header).
needless to say with the new motor i got different springs and retainers;)

drt did not build the motor, it was a machine shop. i made a big mistake going there since all they knew about was big block v-8s at that time i didnt know until the 2nd time they screwed up my motor…my timing belt is fine, everything in that engine is brand new, the engine cracks but it wont start i got spark/fuel but no compression. i do not recommend goin to drt for tuning or dyno dont let them touch ur car!! and if ur in the queens area as you know s&s speed shop is the only machine shop in the area for your own sake dont go there either cuz they dont know **** about hondas… i would say that caused this is a tunning problem… after drt “tunned” my car, i noticed my v-afc had -22 on coarse correction which i thought was pretty strange…

mine is around -24 but that is only at idle

how do you blow a b16? nearly perfect rod/stroke ratio. It’s supposed to rev high. Did you have it at like 9500rpms for a few minutes or something? I guess you said it though, springs and retainers should do the job.

actually it wasnt hard at all. i think my top rev was somewhere around 9500…but not for too long…lol

all i have to say is that i really dont like valve float. like i said…it was my fault.
