My new to me DB2 / sorta build thread.

My Innovative traction system came in.

Nice, that’s a pretty decent price. What all is missing, just the drivetrain?

Just the motor, transmission, and ECU. My B16 swap and all aftermarket parts are going to the new shell. My LS swap is going into my wrecked GSR. My LS shell is going to repair the GSR and then I will junk what’s left of it and have two complete GSRs; one as a daily and one as a track car.

One $598 Tanabe catback down the drain.

Damn that sucks man.

yep. gonna have my welder redo just that one piece.

gonna start posting progress pics of the new shell soon.

Worked on the new shell a little bit today. I have the complete front suspension off to be cleaned up and have Energy Suspension bushings put in. Deleted all A/C lines, all power steering components, and have just about completed the ABS delete the correct way. Cruise control was deleted as well and got my rear Innovative 95A mount in place. Just have to fab up two line extensions. Here is one pic so far:

Here is a couple of pics showing my ABS delete.

you might want to move that prop valve back…at that spot IF you wanted to put a whale penis in there, it would hit at that point…just a FYI

That’s a bad prop valve anyways and just using that one to mock up the line extensions. Chances are I am selling the whale penis and having James at Mainstream fab me a custom intake with a heat shield.

How’s the rust on the rest of the body?

Ok cool, just wanted to throw tha tout there. i’d like to see that heat shield…i’ve been thinking of using the dimensions of my stock one to make a custom aluminum box…not sure if i want to yet or not though.

a few spots here and there. nothing too major. car spent some time in virginia.

I will be using the area where the factory box sat and also going to fabticate a channel for air to hit the filter when the car is in motion.

Just a few updates since the site was down. I purchased everything on my suspension parts list except for the rear strut bar I want. Wanted Function and Form Two.5 coilovers with specific spring rates but ended up ordering Tein Super Street dampers instead. Changed my exhaust from the Tanabe Medalion Touring to the HKS Hi Power. Also changed my wheels from 15" Mugen MR5s to 16" SSR Formula Mesh. The new shell I bought still isnt on the road but will be very soon. I will be posting pics in a few minutes. Will take a bit since I am on my phone.

This is how the drivable car sits now.

dude let me know when you put on the buddy club lower ball joint i want see it. i been debating to get that or stock ones. Pics too if you can lol.

I will post pics of everything soon. I am moving into a new house and have to move the shell over before I can start working on it.

So, everything got moved over to the new house and work started. Got the front end tore apart and ready for the new parts. Swapping a lot of parts around I forgot that the front suspension on the track car was from an EF ( bolted on so I could move it ) so I need to source two front forks. Also the bushings on the front lower control arms were giving me hell so that kinda put a halt on the front. Time to move on to the back end. Being that the car spent time in Virginia, a lot of the suspension rusted together. I have to completely redo the rear suspension so that will take some extra time as well. For now, here are a few pics:

Finished up the front control arms with new ball joints and Energy Suspension bushings:

Not wanting to leave the daily out of the game, it got a new front lip:

Here is a quick shot of the front suspension pieces bolted in and waiting for the rest of the pieces:

Random shot of all my toys:

Here is a shot of the rear prior to disassembly:

All of this is rusted together and needs to be replaced:

A shot of the ASR subframe brace and sway bar mocked up:

My coilovers are bolted up in the rear and waiting on the rest of the parts:

As it sits for now until tomorrow when I will do some more:

starting to come along good dude like i said before lmk on the buddy club lower ball joints still want to see how they look on thanks.
