Enjoying the build…motivates me to get back to work on my DB2… keep it up… I’ve got some of the same parts going on mine… I’m thinking of getting the 3 point strut bar…i got the old rare Grex one… But I havent deleted my ABS yet…does it fit with ABS?
Im not sure if it will fit with ABS intact. My daily had ABS removed before I got it and I pulled it from my track and changed out the front brake lines before I could try it.
Also having a slight change of plans with my build. I will be keeping my Tein coilovers on my wifes car and buying a set of Function Form Two.5s for track duty. The car will also be getting a 1.8 GSR swap with boost. As money and parts come in, I will update this thread.
good stuff in here. im liking the in depth review of the different suspension parts, namely ball joints, bushings, bearings etc.
Im trying to be as detailed as I can be. I am building this car to eventually be a permanent track slut so most of my focus will be on suspension parts. I am sure people will give me crap about picking Function Form coilovers over my current Teins but its okay.
TEINS RULE!! jk, Im sure you will be just as happy with the FF’s
I really like the “turn” this build has taken…

I do agree that Tein makes fantastic products. The reason why I am going to use FF Two.5s instead of my current Tein Super Street is the Two.5s come with optional high spring rates at no extra cost, 32 way dampening, and separate ride height and spring preload adjustments. I don’t want to tinker with preload unless I need to. I can adjust ride height separate so I can maintain the factory spring setting. With the Tein coilovers, when you adjust height it also alters the preload of the spring depending on which direction of height you go.
Quick question. I’ve been wanting to do install the same intake, what application was this for? EG, DC?
where did u get those buddy club ball joints… are they the same as the DC teg ones
Sorry for the delay. If you are referring to my old Password JDM carbon fiber intake, it was originally designed for a Civic I believe. I sold it since I am having a custom intake built.
Yes. All Civics and Integras 88-01 use the same ball joint. Just different OEM part numbers.
It’s been a few months since I updated this thread. I have been working on it for the last couple of weeks here and there while I am waiting for tax money to come in. My head gasket is shot so a tear down on my B16 will occur shortly. I managed to pretty much finish up the suspension on the front end today. I also finished up the install on my ASR kit as well. And started the process of pulling my swap. Going to do a Skunk2 intake manifold and throttle body, new Mishimoto radiator, new header, and replace a bunch of gaskets. Also picking up a set of 16x8 Enkei RPF1s. I will post some pics soon. For whatever reason, the pics I just tried didn’t take.
Glad to hear you’re still working on it. I thought you’d given up. I like your build cuz its an inspiration for my suspension overhaul. Keep up the progress!
How do you like the ASR setup? Which size bar did you get?

I wasn’t going to give up. Just had some things to take care of. I went with a 24mm bar with the kit. Hasn’t been on the street yet. Since the car will eventually be a track slut, suspension was my main focus. Now that I have a blown head gasket and a majority of my suspension has been taken care of, I will focus on some motor work. Gonna stay N/A and do a few more bolt ons.
There’s some good info about the RTAs in this link. Even about OEM vs Mugen (OEMs were updated at some point and are identical to the Mugen)

Dunno if it’s been posted here or not…
Purchased a new Skunk2 intake manifold and 70mm throttle body, new race header, new ARP head studs, new Mishimoto Civic radiator, and a few other items. Now to order new maintenance items like head gasket and water pump and I can start teardown and assembly of the motor. I’ll post pics as parts come in.
if u were still down the street , id help u bout brother!
I’m one county over. Let’s make something happen.
My Mishimoto radiator, ARP head studs, PLM test pipe, Skunk2 valve cover washers, Russell braided brake lines, and Walbro 255lph fuel pump came in. My new Skunk2 intake manifold and 70mm throttle body, PLM race header, and slim radiator mount kit will be in Wednesday. I also picked up a bunch of maintenance items like all new brake rotors and pads, fuel filter, spark plugs, and some other items. I also scored a brand new set of spare ARP head studs, brand new ACL main bearings, rod bearings, thrust washers, and standard bore piston rings. Today, I got the head off and did find a blown head gasket for sure so I am hoping there are no internal issues but if there are, I will be prepared for it. I will post some pics soon.
The pics may be big so I apologize in advance. I got the car to my new house and started little by little to prep it to hit the road. Most of that prep work was cleaning and removing unnecessary things. The car sat for a few months until I got some money in.
This is the resting spot for the track car until it hits the road.
I pulled some interior pieces and the front and rear seats from my wrecked one and threw them in the track car. I also took this opportunity to give the inside a good cleaning. Since the car will see road use for the next couple of years, I decided to use the full interior and I am also throwing in an audio system.
Here is a shot of the front suspension when I started bolting things together.
Here is the front suspension completely bolted up. If anyone is wondering, that is a Cusco front lower tie bar and an Innovative Traction system.
Here is my ASR subframe kit with 24mm sway bar option. Completely mounted up and awaiting the rest of my rear suspension to go on.
I mocked up all the suspension bits here to see what I was working with.
This is the last pic I took of my swap right before I pulled it from the wrecked car. My plans with getting a 1.8L block fell through so I am sticking with the 1.6L motor for now.
The motor is out and work got started. The header I was using was sold to a friend of mine and I am replacing it with a PLM race header.
One of my parts shelf before I added more things to it and before more parts showed up.
Just another shot right before I took the head off to change the head gasket.
A shot of my Mishimoto radiator, Skunk2 purple valve cover bolts, and Russell braided brake lines.
A pic of the radiator out of the box.
My test pipe, fuel pump, and ARP head studs.
That’s about it so far. I have to work tomorrow so when I get off Wednesday morning, I will update with more pics as parts arrive and has progress is made.
