My new to me DB2 / sorta build thread.

Snapped a quic pic of the finished valve cover. Once it fully cures, I will post sunlight pics. I am pleased at the result. Still have to finish sanding the letters.

Another piece to my never ending puzzle came in. PLM Bisimoto replica header.

Pre-assembly and mocking up the new intake manifold.

Block and head bolted together. Still have to put one more coat of paint on the block.

My Innovative front motor mount bracket will be in tomorrow. I also need to consider either relocating my IAT sensor or change my fuel rail. With the stock fuel pressure regulator being in the center of the fuel rail, it’s sitting directly on top of the IAT sensor to the point that I can’t plug it in. I am also having to fabricate brackets for the Civic radiator and have to find someone to make me a 2.75" donut gasket flange for the cat side of the exhaust.

had the same problem you can get a aftermarket one or get either a fuel rail from a 94 and up the FPR is at the end and fit fine to plug in your IAT sensor.

Thanks for that bit of information. Do I need a GSR rail or will a 94+ LS rail work?

you can use either one and works fine to be honest as long as the fpr is at the end you should be fine.

Awesome. Thanks man. A buddy of mine is giving me a GSR rail tomorrow.

Well, I got the transmission cleaned up and bolted to the motor.

Got the assembly bolted in the car without the use of a hoist. That was fun. Yes that is a Felpro head gasket. Yes it is temporary.

All of the head assembly will be done tomorrow. Still have to get a new intake manifold gasket, injector o-rings, and a new knock sensor. My front Innovative mount bracket came in. Just have to get it aligned up and bolted to the traction system.

Went ahead with a mock up after finishing the suspension to check my header clearance with my Cusco lower tie bar and it clears perfectly. Also wanted to see how everything would look.

Looks nice man!

It’s comin’ along!

Just a heads up on that half radiator… you’ll probably be OK, but if you experience overheating you may need to block off the other side that’s now wide open since the radiator is half the size. The air might flow more around the radiator opposed to thru the radiator which will decrease it’s ability to cool the engine. Probably OK for a street car but my friend had overheating issues with his B motor and half radiator. Blocking off the other side helped force air thru the radiator and helped his problem. Although in the end he opted to run a full size radiator.

btw, what’s up w/ that ITR valve cover? If it’s for sale I might be interested

yeah i was never big fan of half radiators but with bismoto style headers you got no choice…

gamedic how was clearence of your old rmf headers ? cause i be running those pretty soon and i want to now if i have to raise the car abit before instaling

Thanks man. I am trying to keep it clean.

Yeah I have heard of people having the same problem. For now, I am going to wire my fan for constant power until I can pick up a Mishimoto fan to match the radiator. With this header, you definitely can’t run a full size one. My biggest issue with the radiator at the moment is fabricating brackets to hold it. I have the brackets made up but just have to bend them to a mounting position.

As for the valve cover, it’s just the factory JDM B16 valve cover sprayed wrinkle red. If I can find a box big enough to put it in, I can ship.

If your car is low, look at other options. As with any big tube header, it hangs a little low. I was afraid my Cusco front tie bar would clear this header but it does with plenty of room.

Basically the same pic as the one above but everything is tightened down and timing belt is on. Still need to do the valve lash, a few hoses here and there, and install the wiring harness. When I get off tomorrow morning, I will be finishing up the front brakes and the rest of the work on the motor and get started on the rear suspension.

Oh, I was thinking it was an ITR cover with the original coating. Mine just got damaged so I’m in the market for a MINT ITR valve cover.

I suggest taking a piece of aluminum and blocking the other side. Do it at a slight angle so all of the air hitting it is deflected toward your radiator.

Common thing done on track cars that run 1/2 rads.

Nah just a stock JDM cover that I sprayed. It’s a spare now since I repainted my Mugen replica.

I will definitely look into it for sure. I have also heard if you use a full shroud it will keep it cool since the air that does hit it has to go through the fan. I’ll look at all options.

By week’s end it should be running. Still have the rear suspension to swap over. Engine harness is just about complete. Valve lash is done. Still have to modify my collector so my exhaust is complete.

Rear suspension is complete. Car is on the ground. For some reason I am not getting power where it needs to be to start. Having issues tracing the problem. Come Wednesday, I will resume working on it to locate the problem.

This may be a reason why my motor isn’t getting fuel.

Also got the okay from the wife to keep our DB8 sedan along with her Accord and my GSR so now I don’t have to rush to finish it.
