Jason, don’t do it! I’ve seen some baaaad things happen with CTR pistons in LSs. I agree with you on your estimate about your compression but its not going to be consistant! Those pistons in that engine act CRAZY!!! Those domes were designed for high RPM usage with a much better rod ratio then in an LS with an LS head…I’ve seen this alot lately and most LS guys end up settling with a set of USDM type R pistons .25 over. It tends to yield a much more consistant power band. With the right head and cams mid 160s should be possible with the P73 AOs, but your playing roulette with those CTRs.

Hey J, What do you mean when you say the compression ratio wont be consistent??
Did any of those guys have problems with valve/piston clearances or were the pistons just too much for them to handle??
I am really interested to hear what else you have to say about them. It seems as though they should work fine in my setup. I am not milling the head or anything to push out more compression so my clearances will be the same…

Johnny - Yep, I wanted to get as high of a compression ratio as I could without having to mill the head and still be able to run pump gas. The CTR pistons were the best choice for what I wanted in my motor.
I too am curious as to what else J. has to put in on this one…
