my radiator support is bent. need advice.

ok so my radiator support is bent. now i was thinking of changing it but im not sure exactly how much work this is going to be. to replace it will i have to do any cutting and welding? or is it all bolt on stuff. i dont care how long it takes or how hard it is all i need to know is if i can do it with a socket set.

and if i can replace the support itself. where can i get a good one for a reasonable price? i saw one on Carstuff.com for a good price im just not sure if its good quality.

have you tried looking at the junkyard for a good one? i think its a bolt on correct me someone if im wrong. i know welding could crack later on because my friends da got his radiator support bolted on and on his eg also to prevent cracking.

you have to cut/weld…a member has done it on here…they sell for like $200 shipped new on ebay. Don’t worry i’m going to be getting a new radiator support frame too…if thats what your taking about…overall the whole structure…otherwise i may have just put my foot in my mouth

i need to replace mine too and im pretty sure youre gonna have to take it to a bodyshop, unless you know how to break welds and re weld. If anyone knows a good bodyshop in the bay area please let us know. Maybe we can get a deal lol. Sic_da9 let me know where you get the radiator support, i just called acura today and they want like $450.

you have to drill out the spot welds and then it comes right off. Then you have to reweld the new one in the same spots. That is the proper way to do it, but to be honest, you can use one of those towing straps and crank it out just as good. Just get it good and straight, then you can use a sledge and something flat to make it flat on the top. Very easy and inexpensive. The radiator support is reall flimsy, if you don’t believe me go outside and pull on it and you will see it move.

Of course if it is damages on the ends then this will be harder to do, but trust me it will work.

Need a spot weld bit removerer. Remove, reweld and your done.

If its just to the top radiator support then it’s easy enough, if it’s the whole core support, good luck.

the only probelms i forsee you having is the headlights, hood, and bumper ligning up properly. do yourself a favor and have a autobody shop get it done… unless you know someone with experience… not to knock you or anything like that… but good luck bro

You could always bolt the upper rad support in place before welding to test fir the headlights and such.

Im in that same boat. Ive decided to pull every thing off and have the new support profesionaly welded on. and put everything back to gether my self.

so far ive been quoted an average of about $450 from multiple shops.

This might help you a little bit if you plan on DIY
