So heres some pic’s of things I have been up to in my free time. First I decided to polish my rad overflow tank. This of course means I now have to polish my fan shroud and radiator more, lol. But I’m up for the task as the overflow turned out nicely I think.
Next I made myself a manifold brace. Now I know many will say why and lifetime warranty on the manifold but I don’t mind over engineering things either. It’s made out of full stainless steel. The idea here was to keep the horizontal stress on the flange to a minimum. You have to remember how much weight is being held up by just the manifold to head flange.
Next was to finally start fab work of the intercooler piping. The intercooler inlet and outlet are 2.5 inch. The turbo’s S cover has a 2.5 inch outlet. So we maintained that 2.5 inch all the way through but switched to 3 inch up top on the cold side. I made use of a cast aluminum 2.5 inch to 3 inch transition. I used this to make the lower section solid and allowing me to run a hump connector only and limiting the amount of silicone couplers used.
We sucked the piping in close and quickly of the exit of the intercooler to allow me to keep my oem option front lip in somewhat “non raped” condition"
Placement of the Tial BOV. V-band really helps clean up the appearance of this unit.
Also made myself a hood prop that will work with my setup, lol. I spot weld drilled the OEM hinge location to make way for the next piece to be made. So this was the result of that decision. Needs a quick buff and paint still.
Last was to start on the hot side of the intercooler piping. This meant time for something drastic. Which at this point in the build wasn’t something I even second guessed much, haha.
Not to worry the pipe was stuffed in there just for fun. The end result will be much nicer
Another thing needed was to get a decent clutch cable as the original one is very tired. OEM once again as it’s just to cheap to pass up on. It was only $53 my cost from the dealer. Can’t say no to that!
Got a lip spoiler and spare 90-91 tail’s to add to my collection of spare parts.
Brand new drivers door side molding. Will be ordering a passenger one next week. Bye bye dented old ones!
Still thinking about sourcing out GSR fender moldings. The “vtec” ones, but no longer available new. If anyone has a set they could let go of, hit me up.
And the big box was this little guy. My current one has started to bubble around the key hole area. Fixable I’m sure but when it’s rust and I can replace it, it’s gone!
Apparently 1 of 2 left in Acura warehouses. This one was overnighted from California.
Thanks. I’m not sure on where it came from. It’s modified/trimmed on the edges to fit the integra. It does follow the curve of the hatch very well. I’ve heard it was for a M3, but can’t confirm, sorry.
this is simply amazing. you went above and beyond and paid very close attention to even the slightest details. kudos brother!
also, where did you find that front engine mount setup, very interested in getting something like that, i am less than pleased with my innovative 60A…
x2 i deff need afront mount i have the innovative crossmember
The front mount to the traction bar was included in the kit. ETD makes this mount which is fully tension adjustable. Poly bushings are a nice touch and I hope it performs well.
The numbers I am shooting for are unknown yet. I know the setup is good for low 500 but I really won’t know what it will actually do. I’d love for it to be anywhere close to that, but we will see.
Thanks. I would highly recommend the ETD traction bar. Great quality and everything fits great. ETD, Ktuned and vibrant all work together so the quality is garunteed.
haha. i had to do a double take when i looked at the posted date. lookin great, kev. keep up the awesome work. anticipating the day that this beast is on the road
gettin pretty close, eh?
Ya I know I’ve been hiding this from G2ic lol. It’s coming along the best I can right now. I’m working on it as I type this so progress is being made. Glad to see you still sign in and check things out. I’m curious to see what ur going to build next.
I hope to be ready for this spring but you know how I do things haha
haha of course, man. i love this site. lotta good people here. and hey, your car’s a build, bro. i don’t think i’ve ever actually built a car. just always tried to make a well-rounded decent vehicle. no beasts though.
and don’t worry. as you know, the journey’s the reward. way i see it, longer it takes, the better the reward
