so sick man. your attention to detail is awesome. and those parts in honda packaging is better looking than christmas haha
Sorry guys haven’t updated in awhile. Been busy working on it but this has kept me away from it. That and I’m getting married in like a month and half…
So I showed you the hole cut in the frame. I forgot to get a nice picture of just the hole all welded up and painted. Heres the best one that I have for now.
As you can see the frame is not nice and flat so shaping the tube is needed. Fully welded both sides and fully painted including inside the frame.
The angle had to be really sharp coming from the intercooler to make sure proper clearance of my oem optional lip. Here you can see how tucked in it is.
Unfortunately we had to cut the vibrant 90 bends to form more of a 75 degree bend. That made it too short so we had to add a small straight section here. It’s not visable behind the bumper but too bad it needed extending.
Also you can see my custom bead roller tool under the car, lol. It works really well!
Made use of some frame bolt threads and made a bracket to support this section of the pipe. I also used our sheet metal break to add a 90 degree lip and stiffen up the bracket.
Two humps and an extended 90 degree pretty much finish up the pipes.
Current state of the car. Lots to do still!
Next up is to sand down any scratches on the pipes, clean and polish to a mirror finish. Pipes are at home now so I got to put in some work.
Next project will be an intake box where the coolant overflow once was. I’m excited for this piece as it should be another one of a kind item to design and build.
Love this setup. it making me want to go finish up mounting my intercooler. how much of that lower support did you remove??
Lower support like rad support or the bumper support?
How’s that song go?.. Oh yeah “money, money, money, mo-ney! Money!” haha I’m just jealous. This thing looks fukin great. Nice worked. I’m subscribed!
how did you bead roll your piping? looks like just a vicegrip and half of a pipe clamp? im not connecting the dots…
I was refering to the lower rad support but appon second look. I see that you did cut out a portion of it.
i love how the engine bay turned out …god blees her…lmao…where did u get the etd traction bar from???
Oh ok. I had to cut the lower rad support only for the wastegate. So don’t let that one photo fool you as the intercooler fit without cutting the lower rad support.
I bought the ETD traction bar directly from ETD/K-tuned.
well damn!!
Well I’m back from me honeymoon and back into the swing of things again. Started some work on the airbox this last week.
First up is always a paper prototype. Seems like this will be a rough prototype of the design I’m going with. Ultimately this design was the best of all worlds (filter placement, ability to remove box, etc.)
The whole week wasn’t spent on the airbox as there was alot of shop cleaning and painting the floor by our lift. Cut out piece in the brake.
All bent and ready for some sides.
All sides cut and loosely in place for checking of fitment. I will need to notch the mount side to clear the mount frame area.
Thats all for now but I’ll take some more of it tacked together and the cut out. Oh and aswell I polished my turbo brace and I’ll snap some of those too. Very “baller” now, lol.
I’ve also been playing with my DB1 alot lately…
love the work on the airbox…
i like ur job man well done
Thanks guys. Hope to have some updated pics soon.
