can anyone help me? my gsr is seriously very slow. its got 106,000 miles and the valves need adjusting and my clutch is almost shot… but it is very slow…i was even with a bone stock 98 ex civic and got spanked by a 96 ls with i/h/e. im afraid my friend with a civic hatchback with 106 horsepwoer can beat me…anyone know of what the problem may be? oh i only have intake by the way. thanks.
try to get a tuneup, then change your belt, waterpump, and some other stuff. get a valve adjustment, and replace the clutch. just do some basic maintenance, dump some of that fuel injector cleaner stuff into your gas tank when it goes empty, that sorta thing. also check for oil leeks and what not. just try to bring the car up to par, if it’s still slow, well maybe something’s wrong internally.
if all else fails i’ve heard of clogged catalytic converters making cars really slow. If it is very clogged it might even glow red after you have been driving the car for a long time. It chokes the motor.
that injector stuff only sorta works. if youre up to the task you can remove your injectors and dip the nozzles in rubbing alcohol and like swirl the nozzle around. let it dry completely before you put em back in though
You gotta keep up with regular maintinence Acura recommends… some say it’s a waste, but I take mine in when I’m supposed to, and I have no problems. This may not be the case since you never said… but I’d get your car checked out, tuned up, etc… then go from there. Good luck
I feel your pain man - my XSi seems to be a fair bit slower than it should be too.
I have been able to improve things a bit by fiddling with the timing, replacing the fuel filter and air filter, having the cat con replaced with a resonator and running some injector cleaner.
Any suggestions for other things to change? - I guess the spark plugs probably need changing (has the OEM Jap Honda ones in now)
