wat can it be… my subs wont work… theres power on the amp…
can it be a setting from my sony reciever?? or is it my subs…?
it can either be ur wires to ur subs or some decks have an option in the menu for how loud u want ur sub so my suggestion is start at the deck it should be in the same menu as the bass treble balance and fade so start there and let me know
thats the 1st thing i checked… its good… and i checked the wires too… behind the deck and on the amp and on the subs… the amp power is on… idk wat happend…
did u check the wires inside the sub box? maybe theyre crossed. culd be shitty ground not likely but possible. and did u check the sub level on ur amp?
i checked the wiring inside the sub… its clear… can it be a setting in my sony xplods deck?? or can it be a wire getting smashed??
First: Is your Amp a 1 or 2 or 3 channel amp? If you have the amp set up as a two or more channels, then you need a set of RCAs from the sub output of the deck to go into the sub input of the Amp. If the speaker wires are going to the sub output, then it could be that the actual sub part of the amp is not getting any signal. If you can find the model number or post a pic of the side of the amp, I could help you more. Sometimes it is as simple as the gains on the amp are turned off and just need to be turned up.
If you have one set of RCAs coming from the deck going to the amp and you have it set up as a 2 channel amp, then hook up all the speakers + - accordingly and then bridge the subs by hooking them up in series so that the left speaker - goes to the amps Left -, left speaker + goes to right speaker - and right speaker + goes to right speaker + on the amp. You have now just bridged the amp and decreased the resistance to 2 Ohms. BUT before you do this, find out if the amp is even stable below 4 Ohms otherwise you can get 20 seconds of boom boom boom… and then fry the amp.
its only a 2 channel… its a tekline amp… ill check the gain… how much do i put?
Wow… I searched for anything about a Tekline amp and I either found something in Malaysia or Tekline cable…
If its a two channel amp then check to see how may speaker outputs it has. It should only have 2 channels, left and right. Hook up the other speakers to the left and right side terminals and if they work and your subs dont, then the problem is a connection to the subs. Now one thing you need to do is make sure that the subs have a crossover of some sort to filter out the high frequencies and allow only the lows other wise you will have a really shitty sound coming out of the subs.
it was working earlier… but suddenly stopped… and i dont know wat i did,. i checked everything but idk… i cant find it
is the amp in protection mode by any chance, generally a red light instead of the normal green.
Have you checked the sub itself?
There are more then a few reasons why you would not get sound out of a speaker, at the top of the list would be a problem with the speaker itself, one way to do a simple check on a speaker is to “pop” it, use a batt., [9V works the best] all you do is touch, [on/off] the pos. (+) and neg. (-) terminals of the batt. to the pos. (+) and neg. (-) of the speaker, the speaker will “pop” the cone will move, [out, if you touch pos. to pos. and neg. to neg. and in, if you touch pos. to neg. and neg. to pos.] as I said it is a simple test and will only tell you if the VC is open or not, [open VC, no “pop”] it will not tell you if the speaker is any good, but only if you have a signal going to it, there will be sound, if the VC is damaged, [burnt, separated or a dead spot] the speaker would still “pop”, [with a batt.] but output would be distorted when a signal was sent to it, but you would still hear something.
You can check if it’s a dead spot by just moving cone by hand when the system is on, if it starts to work but then stops again until you push the cone again, it’s a dead spot.
If the speaker works, [“pops” with the batt.] and moving the cone by hand with system on still gets you no sound then the next in line would be the wiring, [speaker wiring between the amp and speaker] you say you have checked it and it’s OK, so the next thing would be the amp.
Even if the amp is on does not mean it’s working, use a speaker, [any speaker you know works] and connect it to the amp and try it, you should wire the speaker to the left ch. then the right ch. and then bridged mono, [if thats the way you have it wired to the sub.
If you get no sound, try again but adjust any switches on the amp, EG: if it has a x-over switch try it in LP, HP and off, move the gain control, and if it has an “input” selector switch, try it in all settings.
If you still do not get any sound the amp may be blown or its getting no signal from the HU, you can check that by plugging in another source into the amp, anything will work, a Walkman an iPod the output from a buddies HU, [use a long set of RCAs from his car to yours, you can even test it by plugging in a set of RCAs into the amp and then lick your thumb and short the other end of each RCAs pos., [center pin, (signal)] to it’s ground, [outer part, (signal return)] if the amp is working you will get a little “hum” out of the speaker when you short the RCAs pos. and ground.
If you have determined that the amp is good the next thing to check is the RCAs and output from the HU, first thing is unplug the RCAs at the back of the HU and plug them into another output on the HU, if still no sound, run a new set of RCAs from the HU to the amp, [just over the seats and carpet for now.
If you start at the speaker, [sub] and perform the tests I discribe above you will quickly find where the problem is. :whisper:94
wiring
Car audio can be very tricky. I have a friend who first installed my audio for me. It can be very tricky. Many factors could have lead to the cause of your problem.
If you’re really having trouble - perhaps take a picture of your current setup showing how you wired the 2 channel and the wiring to the subs.
How long did the sub(s) play for before they gave out on you?
I have a 2channel amp too. (+)(-)(+)(-) Not sure exactly of the order for (+)(-), but I have just the outside +/- (highlited in yellow) wired together.
I have 2 12" dual coil subs and the wiring was pretty tricky for them.
People explaning things may or may not confuse you. I think it’d be best for you to post pics of your setup. If your amp is on, it’s most likely something related to wiring.
k… everythings good… my amp has power… but theres really nothing coming out of the sub… i tried my subs on my friends and it worked… can it be a setting on my player… rca???
this is wat happend… i just got down my car and when i got back it wasnt working… idk…
OK you checked your subs and they work, did you do any of the other checks I recommended?
As I said just because an amp is “getting power” does not mean it’s working. :hmm:94
ok… thanks… ima try using another amp…
Hey im hoping somebody could help me. I just got Done installing my 3 mtx 10" subs with my monoblock boss amp. Yesterday everything worked, and it worked this morning. When i got home i turned my truck off the later on started my truck up to go to work and the subs wouldnt play. The amp isnt in protection mode all my fuses and wires are all good. The wires in the box that are hooked up to the subs are good. I dont know what happened if somebody could just please help
