my YS1 Tranny

Hey whats up guys Im not a transmission expert so here it goes. All my gears fell good and all but 5th gear keeps popping out and I have to hold it in 5th if I want to stay in 5th. I have an other Ys1 Transmission that I may swap to but I still want to know why it pops out of 5th gear to see if its something that I need to check on this other transmission and try to prevent anything from happenning again. OH and the tranny that in now I never did change the seals on it because they looked ok so I went with it let me kow thanks.

Have you checked fluid level? I had same symptoms, and was very low. Turns out my passenger side axle seal had developed a large leak. Never gave me grief after that.

The exact same thing happened to my bro’s EG. I am almost 100% that’s your problem. Replace the axle seals.

low on oil. use stock mtf with about half a quart of lucas oil gear oil and that baby will shift like new.

pennzoil synchromesh ftw!

usually excessive thrust clearances will cause an MT to pop out of gear. either that or worn teeth on the syncro blocker ring. or could even be excessive clearance between the shift fork and hub sleeve. if you really want to know, print up the overhaul procedure and crack open the case. you may as well since it’s out and been replaced already. you’ll learn some things and have some fun with it. MT’s are really pretty simple. just have to make sure you have a clean and open working area and that everything goes back where it came from. and make sure nothing goes in upside down. cuz that can easily happen. just make sure to mark those items with an “up” side

Did all this fancyness before. Just go with Syncromesh, cheaper and will shift much better than any combo of OEM MTF.

+1 this stuff is amazing!

Or you could just fill it up and replace the seals before tearing open your trans lol.

these transaxles really aren’t difficult at all to rebuild. i just can’t see syncromesh helping with a popping out of gear symptom. yea, it helps with gear grinds due to worn syncro blocking rings. but usually popping out of gear is a clearance issue. i guess he may as well give it a try tho. however, i have been told that syncromesh likes to eat up the brass blocking rings

Alright guys thanks for the info I asked the same question on fb about 2 weeks ago and everyone was telling me the same and I did put some in there just to see if it would stop and it did. Its started doing it again thoughn I need to replace the CV axle seals then asap I really apresiate the help yo.
