NA 2.0L round two and exterior freshen up!

 Haha Steve always making the wise crack. Sounds good man, maybe I can make the adventure just needs to be a weekend day. Text me, we’ll work something out.

 Finally got my block back!

And I dropped it off at Rich Tuned to get it clayed and get the cams degreed in as well.

well, this is rapidly turning into the build from hell.

why’s that?

Well, just to a few that I can think of haha

  • Bottom end was tough to turn over due to previously being line bored, which was unknown to me.
  • Pulled the pump and it was not in great shape, but I have been working with Laskey to fix the issue and he has been a huge help with diagnosing the issue.
  • Broke my dash bezel facing thing that surrounds the cluster and climate control.
  • Broke my windshield wiper switch while pulling the dash.
  • Cracked my US Racing lip.
  • Found two small tears in my new Sparco.
  • Pancake “Hiro” spoiler fell off my bench and cracked.
  • Broke two bell housing bolts.
  • Dropped and scratched on of my TE’s.

And that has all been in the last few weeks, like I said nothing major just keeps being small things that happen. Haven’t been making as much progress as I wanted to so far, but just been trying to keep at it and knowing the issues will be worth it in the long run. I have a ton of pictures but have been slacking on uploading them and obviously keep this thread up to date haha.

I demand pictures!

Sucks that things always don’t go as planned… but keep trucking!

ouch! i’ve been building a high comp b20 vtec lately but haven’t had an issue yet or i woulda sold everything lol

Haha working on it man! Hopefully, should have the motor done and in the car in the next few weeks.

Yeah, surprisingly this is the first build Ive had issues with so I figured it was bound to happen. High comp B20/VTEC is a very fun set up haha

lol so much for sticking it through even when its ugly…

Damn man, ill see you Saturday tho. You got my number if you can’t remember how to get to my pops house

Motor building isn’t for the faint hearted people, there is always hardship and heart break around every corner.

Yeah, I’ll have to hit you up man. Its been a long while since I’ve been out there haha.

Welp got the bottom end together and should be able to pick it up with in the next few days. Debating on if I want to have the cage/roll bar installed now or wait until after the motor is in and tuned.

No updates? Heyro… Fuel pump, traction bar???

Haha haven’t really done much with it lately. The interior is all torn about, still need to finish that and then jack the rear up to put on the Funtion7 LCA’s and do the fuel pump.

On the plus side, I got the motor back yesterday. Just have to bolt on the water pipe, thermostat housing, intake manifold, oil pick up and the pan. Then it should be ready to drop in after I finish messing with the bay haha.

So after almost giving up on this project I recently got back into it, and it started to come back together quite quickly. I got the motor in and bolted up, just need a few odds and ends to make it run. And after going back and forth for a while I decided to use a Victor X intake manifold that I got for a pretty good deal on. The biggest issue is it didn’t fit and I am not too sure if it will react how I want being NA, but talking to DDTech, Richtuned, and 4Piston they all assured me the intake manifold would do just fine on the 2.0 liter set up. If it doesn’t work I guess I will just have to do the ITB’s I’ve been wanting for a super long time haha. :naughty:

Here is how it fit with the stock DA brake reservoir:

And this is after switching it out for one from an EG:

PS; I am terrible with remembering to take pictures and upload them, so my apologies.

Well, I finally got the car tuned…

I am happy with the way it drives, and how it pulls. Ran into some issues when tuning, it wanted to start to pull vacuum at 7800 (which is where the HP curve table tops), so have to do some port matching on the intake manifold to match the throttle body and the intake ports on the head to help see if that evens it out a bit.

Now I can finally concentrate on fixing the exterior and hopefully get some paint on this thing!

Very nice, nice and flat torque. Whats your AFRs on the top end?

I honestly don’t know, I can get the graph and figure it out but we were trying to figure out why it wanted to start to pull vacuum. I even forgot to take some video’s of it on the dyno haha. I am really happy with how the torque curve looks, and it makes 22wtq and 15hp more at or close to 7800rpm then my last B20VTEC…

Very nice power dude… Those are K-series numbers!

Glad to see you got back into it and didn’t quit when you were so close. Sometimes a break is all we need to re-spark the drive to finish the car.

Props!

Thanks man, yeah it was a bit of a rough go. But like you said, I think I just needed a bit of a break from everything haha. I can still get more out of the top end so it should look a little better, but I don’t want to go too crazy. Its already pretty strong through the rev range haha.

What is you map sensor reading with just the key on?
